| I think the revision was to make it perfectly clear the Biewer was not of the yorkshire terrier breed standard, they emphasized the size (if any) white marking not to exceed one inch.

| DEE YTCA writes the standard but the AKC has to vote in the revised standard, it passed in the YTCA but the red tape involved the AKC must discuss and vote in the changes.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | My understanding is that if the Biewers drop Yorkie out of their name, being Biewer Terriers, the YTCA will support us becoming a separate breed. If that is what it takes, I'm assuming (you know what that word means, though) that the name will become more terrier than yorkie....and the breed will gets its recognition as the spaniels did when they split into other groups, chicuahuas etc. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | No--but that would be a funny story, I guess. Let's not start another rumor. No there are smooth coated Chi's, long haired--not my breed. Different variations of spaniels that derived from the original variety. Two or three types of Chinese Crested that are judged separately. My original interpretation of the YTCA was recommending was that Biewers would not compete against Yorkies in the same ring. They would be in the toy group but a different breed. Maybe this isn't what they were suggesting, just my read. |

| Scrapin they would still compete against the yorkie in groups, the YTCA re-wrote the standard to assure the Biewer would not be classified as a yorkshire terrier no matter what the heritage.

| Of course Yorkies would compete against Biewer's in the group. There is no objection to that, it's a mere fact. But, as has been pointed out, in order to become recognized by AKC the Biewer's would have to drop the Yorkshire Terrier part of their name. |
