| Plush Puppy Products have any of you show people ever used "Swishy Coat" by Plush Puppy on your show dogs? It said it is for the breeds that have long flowing coats that must fall back into place after the stack and that it will flatten the unruly coat and tame the waves. I just ordered some along with the Protein Balm for finishing but am a little afraid of using so many products on my girl. I would like to find one product that actually does what it says it will do. | Be careful with the swishy coat if your gal has really fine hair. I've found that if you use a bit too much it makes the ends knot easily and gives them less than a silky texture, kinda like when you use gel on your hair. The protein balm is suppose to be great for flyaways but I have found that it dulls the coat a bit. I have a bunch of Plush puppy products and to be honest they aren't my favorites. A gentle mist from a shine product made for human hair works well and I only use gel on the topknot area. I find that a clean, well conditioned coat that has been flat ironed flows the best. By the time you find what works for you you'll have a major collection of grooming products. Just make sure you try them out in advance and not the day of the show.

| I use a shine mist by Matrix as well as a shine sirum by Aveda ( I work in an Aveda salon). I've tryed a bunch of dog products as well as human ones and you really do have to find the product that works for your individual dogs coat type. Danali has a very heavy coat that is a bit fuzzy at the ends as well though she doesn't matt. She does pick up every bit of grass or whatever that she passed while in the yard. She seems to have a velcro coat. I did some really heavy conditioning on it with a mixture of Equyss and Sunsilk's Hydro TLC. It seems to have helped and she's picking up less of the yard. I'm experimenting, getting ready for a show next weekend. I'll be showing both of my gals and Carly has a thin, fine coat so she will need something totally different than Danali. Keep trying different stuff, you'll find what works. If your gal matts that easy it may be time to get her in oil, Connor lives in it as he still matts pretty easily.

Tami, I know exactly what you mean here. I am no longer a huge fan of swishy coat but I do like one or two of the PP products "ok" when needed for specific needs...but to be honest, I'm not going to order any more of them at this time. Even the finishing stuff, like the glossing shine, ect seemed to be too "heavy/oily-ish" for what I like. Swishy coat also doesn't dilute very well at all..it leaves little clumps of product floating around in with the water even when you use warm water and shake vigorously. | |

| products Something that has to be taken into consideration is this...any product will react differently on different coats types. What improves a soft coat can look awful on a silk coat...a heavy coat, silk or soft does not need a product that increases volume...some products are geared to soften texture, others to coat the hair shaft and bulk up...it is a trail and error thing. Products can react different on different degrees of silk..JMO |

| Connor lives in oil and wraps. If I just wrap him he gets matts within the wraps and just oil is messy. I rewrap him every morning and reoil with a watered down oil if needed. It all gets washed out at least once a week, he gets a deep conditioning and than it's back in the oil and wraps. His coat is getting so long and pretty it's a shame that I only get to enjoy it while he's at a show. Keeping these dogs in coat for show, especially if they have fragile hair, is alot of work! I think PP products are terribly overpriced. Keep at it, you'll find what's right for your gal. Connor's coat has suffered terribly while I've learned on him but eventually we'll get there and it will be easier with Carly and Danali.
