| [News] Award Offered In Yorkshire Terrier Killing Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest of two men who killed a dog named Princess. Oakland police say the attack appeared to be random. The dog's owner said she was walking in a lobby of an Oakland apartment complex when two men pushed past her and picked up the dog. The owner, Lea Dunn, said she struggled to get the dog away from the men. Dunn said one of the men had a gun. She said the two men walked out of the complex holding the dog. Dunn, along with her boyfriend, said they followed the men down the street. She said the men were about a block ahead of her when they suddenly put the dog on the ground. By the time Dunn could get to Princess, the dog was dead. She thinks they strangled the dog. Princess was a 2.9-pound Yorkshire terrier. Oakland police called the crime a brutal and senseless act. Oakland police tell NBC11.com that they have received several calls on the case. You have any information, you are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at (510) 238-6946. http://www.nbc11.com/news/7581305/detail.html |

| This is so terrible! I will never understand how people can be so cruel to such defenseless and trusting animals! While it would be great for them to catch these people, it is sad to say that the punishments, while getting harsher, are not anywhere harsh enough. Boy would I love to open my own court house for animal cruelty!!!

| Its things like this that make me just hate the world. I just dont understand how anyone could kill or even hurt a little dog. Did it bring them joy? This is just absolutely sick. Those sick ****'s need serious help. I dont even think they have a soul. I am happy to hear that crimestoppers is making a big effort to find the killlers. I hope they find them and justice is served. And by justice being served- I dont mean 2 lousy months in jail- I want some SERIOUS Jail time. If it were up to me I would give them at least 25 years

| one more thing..... This is why I cant watch animal cops. It just makes me cry and feel horribly helpless. This thread made me cry. Princess looks so sweet and I just looked at my own Chloe and I just cant even imagine how it must feel for the owners of Princess. I hope I never have to feel that pain. My heart goes out to the owners.

| Update: Oakland police said today they’re still looking for two armed men suspected of stealing and strangling a woman’s tiny Yorkshire terrier last week. Officer Bradley Miller said the incident at an apartment complex near Lake Merritt about 8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 was “absolutely traumatic” for the victim, 25-year-old molecular biologist Lea Dunn. “Even if you’re not an animal lover, you have to be outraged about what was done to a small, helpless dog that weighed less than three pounds,” Miller said. He said the incident is “baffling.” Miller said Dunn and her boyfriend were taking a friend home when two men pushed their way past them as they entered the lobby of the friend’s apartment complex in the 100 block of Montecito Avenue. The men grabbed Dunn’s dog, “Princess,” which was walking off leash a few feet ahead. Dunn screamed and tried to wrestle Princess away from one of the men, but she and her friends backed off after one of the men flashed a gun. Miller said the two men fled with Princess, followed by Dunn and her boyfriend. The two men dropped the dog on the ground about a half-block away from the apartment complex and Dunn and her boyfriend found Princess dead, apparently strangled, Miller said. Miller said the couple has provided “some information” about the suspects and police hope to release a composite sketch of the men next week. In addition, a $5,000 reward has been posted for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Miller said the men face robbery and animal cruelty charges. Oakland police ask that anyone with information about the incident call the robbery unit at (510) 238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at (510) 238-6946. http://cbs5.com/local/local_story_061151426.html |
