| What to feed my new tiny puppy. My puppy is 14 weeks old .Shes really tiny (only weighs 1 1/2 pounds). When the breeder sold her to me she was eating eukanuba.I feed her this for a few days and noticed she wasnt loving it.She is so picky I had to hand feed her to get her to eat it.I went to a dog boutique and I was given a few samples of Timberwolf.I tried giving it to her but the kibbles were too large. Then I opened up one of the other flavors(Wild and natural Dry) and noticed it was smaller. She seems to like this one alot and has eaten it alone a few times. I want to make sure before I buy it that I am giving her something that is good for her. Also I would like to know what other people with tiny yorkies feed their dogs. | The best possible advice I can give you is to feed real food to your baby and buy the book by Ann N. Martin titled Protect Your Pet. More Shocking Facts! Then you will know all about dog food. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | you'll get a couple different opinions here. Some people like yorkiedaze strictly homecook for their dogs. Others, like me, feed raw. And others feed kibble. if you want to stay on the kibble road check out www.dogfoodanalysis.com it rates dog foods. YOu want to stick with something that's 5 stars. alot of people here feed canidae (i used to), chicken soup, wellness, Solid Gold, Innova... all of which are high quality foods. its your decision.

| I also strictly homecook for my dogs, but there are several high quality kibbles out there including the Timberwolf that you mentioned You can find it on the website that kalina82 posted above

| you will want to slowly change their food by first mixing the old with the new and then slowly going to the new food, sudden food changes can cause your little one to get an upset tummy or the poops. |

| I feed raw too - Nature's Variety raw medallions in rabbit and venison. You can go to www.naturesvariety.com to read more about their products. Homecooking is the next best thing (I just think you loose some nutrients from cooking the food). With raw or homecooking do you research and make sure you're baby gets all the nutrients it needs. If you're wanting to stick with kibble, be sure to feed a premium kibble - some are Wellness, Innova, California Natural, Natures Variety, Canidae, and Merrick. Premium canned is really better than kibble even - All of those brands listed above have good canned foods too. Kibble is really the lowest on my list of what to feed a dog - too overprocessed and no moisture 1. Raw 2. Homecooked Diet 3. Premium Canned Food 4. Premium Kibble

| I can't add anything, but from my own experience I have to say that Kalina loves her raw diet. I started with kibble, none of which she truly loved. Next I started homecooking and she enjoyed that, but not nearly as much as the raw diet. She loves the raw diet. I give her Nature's Variety or Primal - both of which are frozen 1 oz. medallions that you thaw and serve. She gobbles them up every single time and is full of energy. Good luck.

Where do you purchase it from. Her breeder had her on Bil-jac, little pellets. I just purchased a big bag, now I am wondering. Thanks | |

| Your gonna get a lot of opinions on here and hopefully one will be best for you. I too was told to use Eukenuba, but ended up switing to Iams... Which ever food you choose, it should be the "small bites" that will ensure you get the small pieces. Though Ive been using Iams, this site really has made me reconsider and think about homecooked meals for me Meka... To each his own though... Best of luck.... 8)

| Here is what I did with Lily when I got her. She too was tiny and only weighed 8 oz and was the size of my cell phone. I couldn't get her to eat at all and was desperate to find something that she would eat. I used the following recipe: 1/2 cup goat's milk 1/2 cup Gerber rice cereal 1 jar of Gerber's baby meat (I used beef) 1 tsp. karo syrup I slowly added ground up kibble increasing the ratio of kibble to the above mixture every day. She seemed to like the Chicken soup for a puppy lovers soul the best. It was very small and flat so that she could eventually eat it by itself. Later she seemed to get tired of it so I started giving her Merrick's puppy plate.

I'm not sure yet how much I will be spending monthly. I'll try to figure it out and get back to you on that. It's definately more expensive than kibble, but I feel so much better when she actually eats.
