| Greenies Oops, I am reading on different posts that greenies are bad for yorkies. I gave one to Scooter last nite and he had all but about 1/3 gone this morning. I don't like giving the boys pig ears or raw hide because these treats swell with saliva and it seems to choke them. I hope Scooter is OK and want to know what treats everybody else is giving their yorkies? Thanks everyone. |

| Maggie's vet, is a specialty in Toy and Smally Breeds. He recommends Greenies and Pigs Ears, but NO, NO Rawhides.

| I think the greenies are just different for different dogs. Some yorkies do fine with them and some have had problems. Just watch how Scooter does with them and check when he poops. The only Problem Asia has had with one is she dropped one in the track of the sliding glass door. She got her face stuck trying to get it back out. The broad stays in the track from now on. |

| Cookie just loves greenies. She hides it first for a while and then she goes to town chewing on it. Occasionally she'll eat a whole small or medium size one in a few hours. She is ok afterwards but it comes out the other end GREEN But other than that, I've been giving them to her since she's been about 6 months. She also LOVES the flavored bones (edible). I think they're cornstarch. The have flavors...peanut butter, cheeseburger, and fiesta chicken. Peanut Butter is her favorite . I never give her pig ears or raw hides because they were not recommended for Yorkies. |

| The problem as I understand it with greenies is they do not pass through the dog - they form a sticky substance and stick to the intestine or even in some dogs the throat. I won't use them with my dogs because of that. Pigs ears and rawhide chews are banned in our home too since we had a couple of choking incidents. |

| Lucy loves Greenies and also the nutrident quest toothbrush things. As long as they are supervised when they are eating them, there should be no problem! |

The smell made me gag and Mya and my other dog vomited them up. No more greenies for them ewwwwwww. As far as the pig ears go. I have never given my dogs those. Some were recalled for Salmonella Poisioning a couple of years ago. I just think pigs ears are gross. As for treats I give my dogs raw carrots and a small amount of yogurt.

Do you cut up the carrots into bite size pieces, or is it okay to give a yorkie whole baby carrots? | |

| I want to try greenies because of their oral hygeine properties. Katia absolutely loves the flavored, edible nylabones and she goes to town on them. After two days I have to change it out. I'm sure she will love the greenies and I think I will give them a try because the nylabones do nothing for her breath. |

| Duke loves the flavored Nylabones as well. After I give him a Greenie or a Nylabone, I get extra kisses from him. Duke gets one greenie a week, but I was wondering if it would be OK to let him have them a couple times a week. How often do your babies get Greenies?

| Hugh and Frederick go wild on greenies (I give them each the small toothbrush shaped ones) I give them too them and they gnaw on them happily for hours straight. Since they love them so much, I couldnt stop giving them to them, and I think they are safe if you watch them. I would NEVER give them greenies unsupervised and I also take them away when they get smaller so they dont choke on the pieces. Mine are sort of gulpers so I make sure to watch them at all times and take away their greenie when it gets small. Im gonna try the huge ones too. |
