| Questions about food <3 Hi, we have had our lil girl Avery for almost a week!! She is the cutest thing.. and seems to be adjusting fabulously. I do tend to get worried over little things though-because she is so small and i am not sure what to expect. Her parents are pretty little 2.5 and 3 lbs.-So i don't know if her size makes a difference as well?? Anyways.. The lady we got her from was feeding and recommended IAMS chicken and rice wet puppy food. She said it was good for their tummies and they enjoyed it.. So i have been feeding Avery that. She seems to like it and is doing well with it (i also mix a little bit of the 'Super-Cal', she gave me into the food-as she said) and i leave this out for her all day. I do want Avie to eat dry food though but dont want her to choke, etc. I know i have to gradually switch her over so it does not upset her stomach.. should i soften the food then mix it into the wet food?? How much should i start out with and when should i increase the amount of dry food i give her?? i know she does not like her food watery though-probably just soft-(which is what i have been doing with her treats)?? Also i was recommended Eukanuba by a couple people.. and some yorkie breeders on the internet?? I bought Eukanuba dry small breed puppy food? anyone have anything bad to say about it-i have heard some people say some negative things.. but nothing that it is bad? -i have heard mixed things.. the positive is really positive and the negative is not anything that bad?? i want to start switching her over but i want to make sure that is the right food. Also she is a little over 8 weeks old.. is this fine to change her diet?? Also.. any other info. on her raminding shots, or anything else that may be helpful to keeping our yorkie healthy, happy, and clean. (i have done my research and my mom also has a yorkie-but she is much bigger than my lil girl and is no longer a puppy) Oh and another quick question.. her eyes sometimes get a little watery-not anything really bad though, is this normal?? Thanks. Meg.

| I would definately get her on some dry food. YOrkies tend to have teeth problems and wet food doesn't help that. I would start moistening the dry food wtih some water. When all of her teeth grow in, then you can stop adding water and start adding some wet food to the dry food, kind of coating the dry food with the wet food. When she gets to where she's eating that well enough, you can start leaving the wet food out altogether and just feed dry food. Goood luck! |

| dog food Hi Meg! Congratulations on your little baby girl! She sounds very tiny! You definitely want to get her on the kibble but i would suggest that you add it gradually to her food now. They love to crunch especially when they are teething so this is a good way to keep their teeth clean and give her the needed chewing pleasure. When you shop for a food, look at the ingredients. There should be NO CORN, WHEAT OR BY-PRODUCTS. If you click the link below, go to the pet tab...there you can compare several of the more popular brands to see what is in them and what's not in them. You can also order some free samples there. We love this food and it is for puppies and adults. It is also delivered to your door, which we love for the convenience. The kibbles are tiny too so they can chew them up easily. I had that problem with so many other foods that my girls couldn't bite them since the kibble size was too large. This one is flat so is very easy for the tiny little mouths. My Princess is almost 3 lbs. and she doesn't have any trouble chewing these up and all my dogs love it. i used to have to mix in something to get them to eat their other kibbles but these they eat by itself which is much healthier. You will want to get your baby on the best food available so that she will have a long healthy life!! With all the dog food recalls, you need to be very careful what you buy and where it comes from and especially WHAT'S IN IT!! If you have any questions, i'll be happy to answer them for you. ...Linda |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Eukanuba is one of the worst foods out there. Also, Iams has done horribly cruel testing on dogs - fyi. Go here and check out Iams and other foods: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...iews/index.php I'd recommend Canidae, Innova, Wellness, Eagle Pack - foods that are high quality.

You know that Corn is no good, BUT By-Products, do you know what that is? B/c if you really, really did, you would not be saying that Euk. was a good food. Best of Luck - I say Canidae | |

| diggy- Haha. yeah i have already gotten lots of love about the name. i saw that it meant that. how funny. i am the same way very petite, so i can definately relate to your daughter. i also saw somewhere else Avery meant 'flirtacious' either way im sure it fits-haha. About the dog food- that is what i have been hearing now. Eukanuba is NO good.. And IAMS i def. wouldn't have started her on that AT ALL-which is why i was going to start switching her to the dry food so i could get her off that crap. yuck. well i am glad i asked before i started- i am going to get some other food for her. thanks.

Euk. has By-Products (no 'real' human grade meat). By-products are parts of animals 'unfit' for human consumption. They also include diseased and highly canerous organs, road kill, other cats and dogs euthanized from Vets and Shelters...Get It??? NOTHING GOES TO WASTE! The 'Cheapo' animal food companies buy all this Waste/Garbage and use it in the pet food = By-Products. Also, there are bad chemicals, rubber, etc. All useless and harmful stuff. Then they spray and coat it with stuff that is rendered (rest. greese and more garbage, spoiled food, inlcuding plastic wrappers, etc...) Also, Euk and Iams conduct HORRIBLE testing on animals, useless suffering that is inflicted on animals, animals that were probably bought on the Black Market for $10.00 - that used to be someones pet and they were either stolen or shelters didn't have the space anymore.
