stinky breath and teething? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

can bad breath be a sign of teething? over the last week I have noticed Lillie has extreamly bad breath, it almost smells sour. I called my vet about it and they said it could be that she is teething. She is going in next week, but I just wondered if anyone elses yorkie has this bad of breath? it came on all of a suddon, she never had bad breath like this before.

Ollie had bad breath when she was teething, so I looked in her mouth and saw that she had some old brown baby teeth that hadn't fallen out yet, so I figured it was the old teeth that mad it smell bad.

Yes, bad Yorkie breathe usually accompanies teething. So I've read from more experienced owners, and that's what we expereinced here, with Ms Abigail. Once she lost her molars, sweet breathe, again! Of course, she does have 2 retained upper canines that will be extracted when she's spayed on the 2nd of Oct.

Abbie and Emma must be long lost sisters or something...getting spayed in the same week, needing onesies, and Emma lost ALL her teeth except the two canines too, which she had pulled today. And, of course, she had HORRIBLE breath when teething. I found her last molar in the carpet today

as if she tried to lose as many as she could before surgery so that I'd only have to pay $31.50 per tooth for as few as possible. (only two, she did a good job!)

Yes, teething can cause bad breath. When Scampers starting teething he had such horrible breath. After he was done teething his breath went back to normal. Destiny is now teething and her breath smells horrible right now. It is the one thing I hate most about teething!!

Yes, it does seem our girls are running the same path

I'm still dreading the 2nd! I may talk me out of it, completely! At this point, I don't know who would take it harder if something happened to her: me or dh. He's just ga-ga over this "li'l bit o' nuthin".

I had her staked out in the front yard today - one of those round things you pound into the ground, and it gives a good radius to play - and, he was so nervous that "she could get away", I finally just brought her in the house!

It's hilarious how men can be! My hubby calls Lillie a pure bred mutt lol but he is so much attached to her, but he has to keep up his manly image lol
but you hear him say "come to daddy" lol it's way funny!

Gracie's breath used to not smell at all but now that she is teething peeyew!

lol hope after she is done her breath will be pleasant again lol

Hi,
There is a product at Petsmart called Denta Clean Mouth Rinse.
I use a similar product I bought at the Vet's office.
Just a little in their drinking water.
It works for my Furbabies
.

I am glad to hear that it is teething that causes the bad breath. Shylah must be teething because she stinks. I can't get her spade until more teeth come in. She still has almost all her baby teeth. I don't see any big teeth yet.

Teething lasts from 4 to about 7 months. I used the Life for Teeth spray and it takes care of bad breath completely.

It's probably not the same but my dogs teeth smell like rotted fish

Where can you find the spray at? Do you all brush your babies teeth? I do Mojos a lot.....I try to do 2-3 times a week, but sometimes it is only one time (oops...when I get bad and forget).

Does anyone have their Yorkies teeth professionally cleaned once a year? We did Mojos last year, but didn't know how often that should be done....since they have to "put them out" to do it......I heard some vets just give a shot to knock them out for a short amount of time or something...might be better then doing the gas.......
