If your dog has a corn allergy...

If a corn allergy did exist, and you changed the food to something with no corn, such as merricks, how long would it take to see an improvement?

I changed my yorkie's diet and it took 3 weeks to a month to really see an improvement. It is well worth the wait, though!

I agree it took about a month after fully switching Jazzie & Jewel's food. We chose to go with Natural Balance Duck & Potato formula.

Thanks guys! It's actually not for me...I'm pet sitting a yorkie who had some skin problems the last time I was there and this time they are terrible! So, I was going to try and (nicely) tell her daddy about the possibility of a food allergy. They feed her Iams! They have the soothing stuff to put on her and they have me give her benydryl at night, but it's so hard to leave her when you know she's so itchy! So, I'm just going to try and give him some info about it (and maybe the rest of my bag of merrick's!) so she can get to feeling better! Thanks!

That is VERY thoughtful of you! I'm sure that they are just not aware that most yorkies are allergic to corn. My parents were not aware of it and their yorkie has ALWAYS been very itchy. I got them to switch to Chicken Soup, which is what I feed my 2. I'm sure the owners will understand. You could tell them that your yorkie used to be itchy but then someone told you about the corn allergy and you thought that that might be what's making their yorkie itch.
