| Very concerned... My little Louie got his 2nd round of vaccines on Monday. They gave him the LEPTO vaccine, which I didn't know you shouldn't give to yorkies (my breeder said nothing about this) and today he is not himself. He ate this morning but he doesn't want to play..all he wants to do is sleep or lay down on the floor. He was fine yesterday and Monday after he got his shots, so..could this be a delayed reaction?? If there was going to be a reaction to the LEPTO would it have happened on Monday and I'm worrying for nothing??

| hhhmmm...I have no idea, I would call your vet. I would hope that the vet would know what vaccines to give...however many don't give special consideration to our little guys... |

| I agree, just to be on the safe side, I would call your vet. I'm not sure how long it would take to have a recation but most of the situations I've read about, the reaction happens within the first day or so. I would call, but then again, I'm a worry wart!

| What is Lepto? My Chico is 9 1/2 weeks and will get his next shots in a couple of weeks should I mention this to the vet? I don't want to assume or take any chances. Sorry about your pup I hope he'll be ok and back to normal soon.

| I've read that reactions happen almost immediately. I'd call your vet to be sure though |

| the common reactions to lepto are facial swelling, a gray tongue and persistent crying if none of these things are present you should be fine

| there was post on here not too long ago about a yorkie that was given lepto and he had a reaction (face swollen) but i think it happened not long after she brought him home. i too didn't know yorkies shouldn't get lepto until nala had already had her shots. nala didn't have a reaction but she didn't act like herself for a day and if you tried to put her up she would cry. |

| Hey guys...just to update everyone Louie is fine, I guess he was just being lazy today. I called the vet and he said reactions happen within 24 hours so we are in the clear. I had a long discussion with the vet about the Lepto vaccine, I was pretty mad that he insisted that he get that vaccine, sounds to me like he didn't have a clue. I told him there is NO WAY he's getting the second round of lepto. I am new at having a puppy and new at having a yorkie all together, if it weren't for you guys I don't know what I would do. So thanks for your constant guidance.

| Oh good - I'm glad that Louie is doing well now - we all have lazy days, right? Good for you for standing up to your vet, some honestly don't know that some vaccines aren't good for small dogs - they'll figure it out when one has a reaction though. Oh, and I had a boyfriend named Louie when I was in high school! He was a real sweetheart, every time I see your baby, I think of what a sweetheart HE must be!
