Does anyone else's puppy have brown/dark spots under stomach (near butt)?

Hello Everyone. I have a five month old puppy who has dark brown spots near where she pees from (for lack of better word). They are like little specks. I asked the vet about it and she said they could be yeast buildup from the moisture. I notice that sometimes she licks herself down there. Anyway, the vet said that I can just take a cotton ball and wipe these off, but they don't seem to come off easily. Has anyone else had any experience with this? Is there something I can use to get these spots off? How do I prevent them for recurring? Thanks everyone.....any input would be greatly appreciated.

They can do a test if it's a vaginal infection. I'm not sure why yours didn't if this is what they suspected.

Ramsey squats so low pottying...she gets her tummy wet Combine that with dirt...you get mud. It's pretty dark looking, kinda spotchy, and it does stick very well. I use baby wipes to wipe off her tummy.

Our Paris has some very small spots down there that looks like dirt. I took her to the vet and found out it's just skin pigmentation. I felt SOO bad as I had been trying to get them off! I think I washed her every other day when I first got her! LOL

Both my male and female get them sometimes. I thought it was just dirt since they're so close to the ground when they do their business.

I've never been able to successfully wash them off. They don't appear to be skin pigmentation, although I suppose it's possible. I just ignore them. If they'd become red or inflammed, I'd be concerned.

I have always heard that they are a form of puppy staph infection. Like someone else said, if it doesn't become red and inflamed then it should not be something to worry about. Our 6-year old Pivo had them when he was a puppy, and now my 17-week old has them too. If you want to be extra careful you can wipe them off after they pee. I used to wipe Ness off with a wet piece of toilet paper but he hated it and I wasn't particularly fond of it either so I stopped that. They go away over time. (or they might be freckles!)

Does it look like this? She has had this for months. If it does look like this my vet said it's nothing to worry about. But, vets are known to be wrong.

Chachi has that on his dinger and the vet said its nothing to worry about.

There was another post on here about that a while back.

Mine had them too. I make sure I wash her really well when she gets her bath, once a week, and they went away.

If you don't bathe once a week, maybe just a wet wash cloth ever day or two will help. I think it is just dried urine.

Oh I am so glad that you posted this picture!!! My Yorkie just recently started getting these spots and I was about to take him to the vet tomorrow. So, your vet said it was no biggie? What did they say it was? If anything?
