| stomach surgery My 2 year old male yorkie had blood in his poop. We thought he had an obstruction in his stomach. The vet took blood work, came back fine, did a barvarian x-ray something and this came back ok. Said he would have to go into his stomach and see if he had an obstruction. He went in Saturday and did not find anything. He did find the medicine he gave him for the barvarian test and he said that his stomach was not emptying correctly. Toetoe has always had trouble going to potty and now after the surgery he is not going at all. He eats very little and has no problem teeteeing but I have not seen him potty. The vet thinks that he will be able to go on his own. He has been eating chicken breast and srambled eggs since surgery (he will not touch his dog food) and it has been 4 days and as far as I know he still hasn't pottied. What else should I do. I am scraping the bottom of my purse and still have a sick baby. Does anyone know what I could or should do. I thought about giving him a laxative but did not know if this would be good or bad for him. Any ideas from anyone? Last edited by scarlet_meme; 04-12-2006 at 06:35 AM. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali went in about 5 weeks ago t the Animal Emergency Hospital that I'm all too familiar with because she hadn't pooped in 5 days and was throwing up. They did xrays and thought there was an area that looked plicated like maybe a string in her intestines, which knowing Cali was entirely possible. Well she was in heat and needed to have a liver biopsy when she was going to be spayed so later that night they did abdominal surgery, spayed her did biopsies and there was no blockage. Well they had her 2 days and then I got her home and it took her 3 days to go poop. I gave her littl ebits of ice cream to see if that would help. Then she finanlly went. Cali has been on chicken breast and hamburger since her surgery and I am now getting her to eat a small amount of her dog food. I think it just takes time with these little ones to get them back to normal. I would call the vet to see what they advise. I know hwat you mean about being costly!! Good luck
