Hello Everyone!

Ginger is 4 Months old and could possibly have her first ear infection

. Everytime I give her a bath, I clean her ears. And i don't find any ear wax or anything on the cotton balls/tissues that i use to clean her ears.

But there is a slight foul Odor & she keeps scratching at it. I don't have a lot of funds right now since i had just brought her to the vet last week for nausea/vomiting.

Is there anything like I can buy at my local pet store that i can buy to help with ear infection? for example those wormers they have are over the counter. Just trying to save a few bucks! Thanks

There are different kind of infections, when Mojo had his he didn;t have nay kind of wax coming out or smell, he just scratched a lot...i donnou the name of the medicine i used on him and i don;t have it anymore...hopefully somebody here will be able to help you better...

I had the same with mine, most likely your yorkie got ear mites for which you need to get the medicine from the vet. Does he scratch a lot? on the same spot? If yes, take him back to the vet. Ear mites can´t be seen with the normal eye, the vet ussually can see that immediately with a telescopic (thing) instrument.

oh crap ear mites?!

but i give her a bath every weeeek! and that means Oreo can possibly have it too!

we're going to the vet today at 2:30 so hopefully everything works out fine!

The vet visit went rather.. alright i guess

.. I think im not going to be going to that vet again.

So we got there to sign papers and stuff.. and then we waited for about oh.. 20 minutes to be put in a room.. when we were in the room the tech took the vitals and everything was nice.. the lady on the phone told me the doctor couldn't see Oreo.. and only could see Ginger since the doctor was very busy..

but i made him get seen too! cause if she had ear mites, he probably would have had it too.. but luckily he didn't.. unfortunately she does have an ear infection.. yeast and bacteria .. gosh the only thing they told me was that it was very deep.

the vet took my darlings in the back.. came back.. said the things it needed (meds) and left.. then 1 hour later (i kid you not) some tech just drops off my kids and leaves.. doesn't say a word or anything.. so me and my boyfriend are waiting for the vet to come back to tell us.. how to clean the ears, how to instill the ear drops.. and she prescribed Oreo some eyedrops since his eyes were so red and watery. well she didn't tell us how to instill the eyedrops.. i mean its self explanatory, but i mean she should at least tell me anyways..

soo 30 minutes passed and we are all still waiting in this room.. so i finally got tired and opened the door.. another 15 minutes passed.. and then someone finally said, oh im getting your medicine ready..

ok well she did.. 20 minutes later.. she just gave them to me.. didn't bother to tell me what time to give it, if they already gave it, stuff like that..the vet didn't even come back either.

sooo yea, im thinking the service wasn't as great as it should have been. so should i find a new vet?

Did they get you in last minute? Or did you have an actual appointment? If they just squeezed you in they may have been having a really hectic day.
In my opinion, I would give them another chance. Also, if you like your vet, it could be really difficult to find another one that you like.

I Had an appointment at 2:30PM .. it wasn't busy at all i stayed there till about almost 5pm ..

this was my first time going there.. i don't have a regular vet, so i don't really know who to take my pups to.

Hi Yorkie_Girl,

glad to hear that you checked them out and that you got the meds. now. Well to be honest I wouldn´t go there either.....that is a awfull long time at the vet.....If they also charged a lot.....then definitly don´t go there again.....you might be able to find a recommended VET in your idea trough the American Kennel Club? Not sure how it works in the US and A but here the Kennel Club can provide you with a list with VETS in the area you live.....unfortunately there are many dodgy vets here :-( thats why the list.

I wouldn't go back there either...i would keep on checking for another vet!

I had to pay nearly 400 dollars for them to tell me i have to wait for results for a month if ginger has ringworm.. and for now not to worry, cause i might have ringworm already...

they just left me with medicine and yea... so im going to another vet.. i hope i can find a good one!
