| Black Ears When I got home yesterday my mom told me to look at lil bear's ears. The inside skin near the edges have black circles and her one ear has a line going from one of the black circles to almost the inside of the ear. I asked lil bear how she got her ears so dirty esp since she has floppy ears. I cleaned then with ear cleaner and the black won't go away, it's like black marker. Just a little black came off the show her normal ear skin color. I'm at a lost she hasn't ever had this before. She has lost the fur at the tips of her ears from leather ear I think it is called but the hair is stating to come back and the crustieness (sp) is going away. She doesn'tt show signs of it hurting though. Any Ideas???

| Do a search here for earmites, your little one might have them. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Also....Search with Key words LEATHER EAR - it sounds like that to me.... It could be mites but I read where they'll leave a coffee ground looking type of residue whereas Leather Ear really does turn the ear itself black ....it's treatable I believe... but forget how. |

| I did just can't find the products suggested. Though I am stopping by to get tree tea oil which was one suggestion. I have fungal cream that we used the last time to treat it so I am going to pull that back out too. Lil Bear is going to be none too happy with me. I'm going to try to get a picture of it to post not only for you guys to look at but it might help other yt to see what it looks like

| When we brought our mia home she had the worst case of ear mites ! I mean bad ! The vet cleaned so much black stuff out of her little ears i am suprised she could even hear...The skin on the inside of her ears looked like the photos of your dogs. After treatment now they are a healthy pink again.

| I have been told and saw a few things that say they would be like coffee grounds, was that what your baby's looked like? Lil Bear's ears look like she went at them with a marker.

| Well we are taking lil bear to the vet tomorrow morning to get a second opinion. we have been thinking about finding another vet since ours is a bit of a drive and if there is an emergancy or with my mom being sick something happens and she has to take them to the vet a closer one is needed. Well anyway we made an appt. at the office we use to go to before the vet we go to now moved. I didn't want to stay there cause the other vet scared lil bear and I just didn't like him. Well now a lady vet owns it so we are going to go get another opinion about what to do for lil bear's ears. Our vet now has guessed and given us stuff that doesn't work or stuff she had already given us. I'm hoping we and the pups like her, since annuals are comming up..plus I just feel so bad for lil bear and her black ears. Wish us luck
