| Homemade food- what supplements do you use? Hi everyone, I haven't been here for a long time! Last time I was here, I had two new puppies. They are now 4.5 years old and have grown into great dogs. I'm looking for food advice and remembered how great this place is so decided to stop by. I'm interested in trying a homemade diet and have been doing some research- never had any luck finding a dry food both dogs will eat regularly, and my littlest is a true food snob and loathes kibble. Also would feel better having the option to decide exactly what is going into the food. I ordered a few sample size Honest Kitchen recipes and may go with that brand and use their base mix (allows you to add your own choice of protein) if the dogs like the taste/consistency. If not, I want to give true homemade a shot and have been looking around at different supplements that I would need to include. Are there staples/go-to brands that anyone recommends? Thanks! |

| You might want to take a look at this website: www.balanceit.com They have a recipe generator that is awesome. I have used their supplements for years for the pups I homecooked for. I am presently not home cooking...my last pup I cooked for passed away in March.

| It’s very important to make sure you use a recipe from a vet nutritionist and supplements. I like balanceit.com sadly though my older girl never took to it.

| Thanks, everyone! I found the Balance IT site a few days ago and played around generating some recipes. Looks like a great resource. We are going to try the Honest Kitchen samples, and also ordered a sample of Dr. Harvey's canine health. If one of those is a hit, we'll stick with that. If not, I will try the supplement from Balance IT with homemade meals. |
