| First Vet Visit Hello, I adopted a yorkie a few months ago from a work friend. Been putting off taking him to the vet, I tore my meniscus & strained my acl. Taking him next week, just curious on the cost nowadays. His last vet visit was last summwer with his last owner. hes 2 1/2 now. I removed 3 ticks from him recently so want to get him fully checked for that too. Just found out Bayer adv multi does nothing for ticks after the fact, but have to wait until the 15th to switch him to Advantix. Thanks for your time reading, I look forward to posting in the future & maybe post some pics of Ranger. Last edited by Jake1605; 06-03-2015 at 11:27 AM. |

YT 1000 Club Member | I currently reside in Central Texas. For a visit with my vet it's $48(office visit), but I don't have to pay an office fee up to 60 days if I have to come back for any reason concerning that particular pet. Heartworm meds are $42 for a 6 month supply and $80 for a year. My vet throws in a lot of freebies as well, our new pup recieved his fecal exam, hw sample, sample of food, grooming voucher, etc at no cost. I usually go with "country" vets instead of chains(Banfield, etc). |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Here in Phoenix, an office visit is somewhere around $50, I think? If you're in a non-metro area, it may be much cheaper though...

| Ok that's cheap, expected much higher. Anything else required for puppy health insurance? |

| Just be sure the vet documents that your pup does not have any pre-existing conditions. Welcome to YT, by the way!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Are you asking if there is anything you should have the vet check bc you want to get insurance? For yorkies, some ins companies ask that the knees are evaluated (palpated) for LP (luxating patella)...but that's usually it. Any pre-existing conditions will not be covered, btw...
