| Its really hard to find a good chew. They all have there downs. Either break teeth, smell...they all are choking hazards so I always use supervision. I won't ever give my dog a Chewie from China ....that would be the worst imo. Knowing they can use chemicals illegal here. I tried butcher jerky but not chewy enough. Nyla bones if your dog can't chew them up I think would be okay. But my dogs don't like them. The Himalayan chew doesn't seem bad but to much cheese and heavy chewers can make a mess....My puppy like it but Moki makes a mess....Pigs hoves or ear can have bacteria or splinter....I'm just gonna tag along till something good comes up.... |

| ".they all are choking hazards so I always use supervision." I think that is the real key to any of them. |

| Good post about not leaving chew treats to entertain them selves while home alone.

| Oh No!!!! I am not going to be able to get this visual picture out of my head. Truly had no idea they were made out of bull's winky-woos. Cannot have my little princess exposed to that, lol. Back to the drawing board. |

| SO much homework in trying to do the right thing for these little guys! We use antlers. Deer, elk, cut in half long ways is the best so they can get at the marrow. They love em' and haven't finished one off yet. They are very hard though. Rawhide can be dangerous (There is a post in the forum about it) Even trusted names like Hartz Oinkies (recalled due to illegeal antibiotics used in them in 2013) and Blue Buffalo (recently sued for using by-products in some of their stuff, search "purina vs blue law suit") have serious implications on our babies health sometimes... AHHH! I agree, what ever you choose, just supervise, and be careful is about all one can do! Last edited by YorkieDaddy1; 05-01-2015 at 04:49 AM. |

| Be careful with the deer antler. I have read many a story on here about broken teeth with those. I buy the blue bits for Max & Sasha. They love them. I have read about the quality control issues with BB, but I thought they were with the food, not the treats. I could be wrong.

| SOmeone gave my last pup a really small braided pizzle stick and she loved it. One night we had neighbors over and I was in the kitchen making drinks while they played with the puppy. I came back and my neighbor had stuck one end of the pizzle stick in his mouth and was playing tug of war with her on the other end. I asked him... "Um Wayne- you do know she has chewed on both ends of that thing right?" He said "no worries- Her breath still smells like puppy- she has a clean little mouth!" I took a minute to digest this. Then I said "Um Wayne...you do know that is a pizzle stick right?" He said "Yeah that's like braided cowhide right?" ( And proceeded to put the pizzle BACK in his mouth AGAIN.) After squirming uncomfortably for a few seconds I just threw it out there. "Wayne you have a dried up bull penis in your mouth" ( the conversation in the room went dead silent) He projectile spat that pizzle stick across the room! His wife, My Husband and I laughed so hard I think tinkled myself a little. And the moral to that story is: One yorkie Puppy= $1500 One pizzle stick = $2 The looks on my neighbors face when he realized what he was chewing on=PRICELESS! But Even though she loved the pizzle stick- i agree the thought my my little girl chewing on a dried up winkie-woo ...Eeeewww!

Another of my big worries....who has the time - or the inclination - to BRAID a winkie-woo?!!!!? Maybe it was Mrs. Bully, after Mr. Bully had been a naughty boy....?!!!!?
