| Specific Diet question Charlie is my 7 year old spayed female yorkie with a complicated h/o lower urinary tract infections (UTI). At 2.5 yo she had uncomplicated bladder stone removal (struvite stones) and she has been eating the RoyalCanin SO food (RX food for UTI issues) for the past 4.5 years with only 1 recurrence of a UTI. We have given her 1/4 tab of craninidine (sp?) bioactive cranberry extract as well. She has recently begun to lick the air, carpet, floor after eating dinner for roughly 20-30 minutes. I assumed she was having acid reflux and we started her on 2.5mg of famotidine 30 minutes before giving her dinner but it hasn't helped. I'm headed to the vet to ask for any diet alternatives or different dosage on GERD meds to see if we can fix the issue. Any suggestions or anyone have similar problems with their yorkie ? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yeah, that does sound like acid reflux w/ all the licking. Here is an article about reflux that I just posted last week: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...wallowing.html The vet may suggest Reglan, which can help w/ reflux.

| You can ask to try the Hill's C/D instead of the Urinary SO if the issue is struvite. Or you could try to split the food into smaller meals to see if that helps w/ reflux.

YT 500 Club Member | Does sound like acid reflux. Has she tried to eat grass at all or made a gagging or hack noise. My puppy has acid reflux and he will sometimes hack and he runs outside to eat grass and he will lick lick lick. Keep us updated |

| She does not try to eat grass. I have noticed that her licking has become less frequent since feeding her 30 minutes after the antacid and also breaking her dinner down in to 2 portions separated by 15 minutes. |
