| Yorkie Eye Discharge??? Hello All, my boy is 9 months and I've been noticing eye discharge (kinda clear tan color) in the morning and throughout the day. The main thing that bothers me is that it also happens in his top eye lid and I'm constantly trying to remove the stickiness from the top lid hair. I know yorkies have the regular discharge that happens on the bottom inner lid but I never had the problem on top lid with my pervious yorkie. Has this happened to anyone before? |

| If the discharge is covering more than the inner corner of the eye, I would have your vet examine your pup's eye to rule out inflammation or injury. Sometimes these things are difficult to see, especially if you don't know what you are looking for. Does your pup scratch or rub the eye? Does he have any redness or irritation? Gently lift his lid to look at the white part of the eye and look at the lid. Is he getting hair in his eye?

Always be extra cautious with eye issues and if you think there is a chance there is an infection, I'd bring your pup in. Does it have a smell to it, btw?

| Thanks All. Sometimes it smells but with my other dog it smelled as well. I've made an appt with the vet and will let everyone know what she says. |

| Hello All, just noticed forgot to post what the vet said. She did the eye treat drop test, which basically puts something in his eye, I think it's kinda like a small piece of paper and then tested it. I did not see her do it as she took my dog to a different area. Anyway, she said everything was fine and that his treat production was normal. I showed her pics of his eye discharge and she said it just looks like normal eye discharge and that some dogs make more than others. So thankfully everything is good with him. I just have to clean him more than my previous dog but that is no issue at all. The important thing is that he is normal. |

I would just clean the area daily with a soft face cloth and warm water. A small moustache type of comb is helpful around the eyes too because you can comb out the "gook." I use a 4.5" long comb that is stainless steel and made by Safari. I've used it for years and like it. Good luck!
