diet rotation My pup is extremely picky when it comes to eating. We have had her on royal canine for the last month and months prior Rachel ray. Its a struggle getting her to eat. Someone suggested diet rotation Rachel ray in the morning and royal canine in the evening. She is even picky when it comes to treats. Any suggestions?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It's fine to rotate if that's what keeps her eating. Just remember to always save some novel proteins in case she would need them in the future due to allergies or something.

The only part of rotation I find difficult is using product up with a small Yorkie appetite. My dog gets Acana in the a.m. which she picks at all day and Freshpet roasted chicken (refrigerated item) which she devours in the p.m. I don't feed freshpet at both meals because she loves it too much. She begs for more all day long starting at 4.am. She likes Acana but it doesn't make her crazy like canned or Fresh. Acana is available in tiny bags (we keep 2 varieties) and freshpet can be frozen. (we freeze half of it)

I use the bagged item called roasted chicken. She loves the sliced too but I am not sure if it freezes as well. The freshpet website has good information plus you can do a google search for reviews. It's not as messy as canned and dogs love it, just watch the portion size unless your dog needs to gain weight. ha The bagged food isn't rated as high on dog advisor but it is one of the few soft foods without carrageenan. I am really trying to stay away from all controversial ingredients. PS. Check the dates! Remember it is a fresh item but some stores don't sell as fast as others. Walmart is a good place.

How long does whatever size bag you get last you? My Petsmart tends to have them on clearance (I want to say 30% off or something) when they are closer to their expiration date but I'd be fine buying them to put in the freezer. I want to say that Toki got maybe 1/2 cup per meal when we tried it a loooong time ago but I don't remember exactly how long a small bag lasted so it was hard for me to guesstimate the cost difference between FreshPet and canned food...she did love it though and both pups love those DogJoy treats that FP makes!
