| Halo dog food? Anyone feed this? I think this might be the only dry food brand that has no "meal" in it. I'm not sure why it's rated 4 star on dogfoodadvisor though, I'm assuming because it has peas show up 3 times in the ingredients. It looks okay to me and I haven't seen any recalls on it.. what do you guys think? Plus, I let Chloe try it and for the first time EVER she gobbled it all up!

| Meal is just dehydrated meat - it's not a bad thing per se. I've used halo in the past - it was ok, I used the canned.

I wanted to find a good dry food that Chloe will like because I remember you told me before that you do keep dry food on hand even with home cooking. She really likes this one and the pieces are tiny. I bought a little can of wet food from them as well to see if she'll like it. I haven't gotten to ordering her the BalanceIT because for some reason I'm scared to do something wrong accidentally by not giving her all necessary nutrients. I decided for now while I learn about the proper way to home cook balanced meals for a dog that she can eat Halo since she likes it. I do still make boiled chicken for her or some sweet potato but I take away a portion of the dry food so that I can add that to her food without overfeeding or unbalancing the diet.

| I think halo is a good food and if your pup likes it and does well on it its even better. You dont need the balanceit if you are going to feed solely dog food there are enough vitamins and minerals in the dog food. If your going to feed 10 percent or more home cooked then you have to suppliment to get the correct amt of vitamins and minerals

The BalanceIt company is owned by a board certified veterinary nutritionist. The product and formulation of the diets are complete and balanced so if you do order the product and go with a diet from them or from pet diets, you have nothing to worry about. I think you would be much better off doing a balanced home cooked meal with balance it added than you are just adding a little home cooked boiled chicken or sweet potato to her commercial food. Dr Remillard at pet diets has a diet of chicken and sweet potato for $25 that you can order (with or without a veggie mix) and it is balanced. I actually have that diet but Winston seems to do better on peas. I really like the pea diets (w/ either chicken or beef). The balance it container lasts me several months so it's pretty cost effective.
