Ruger is due for a physical and they usually clean his teeth when he's in. I was wondering if there are any recommended products that actually work to keep a dogs teeth clean other than brushing.

They do a dental while he is in for a physical? Brushing really is the best way my vet dentist I had to take Callie to for a Broken tooth said bully sticks, rawhide, and antlers can brake teeth.

my vet recommends the CET chews. My dogs like them....but I usually take them away once they get small (Im always worried about choking)

Rolled pig skin. Probably not the best but they like them and chew them slowly. I had used when they were puppies and bought them recently at target. They probably have bacteria on them and I'm risking GI upsets but so far so good. They get ten mins of fun and then their fun ends.

Gracie has been chewing Bully Sticks for 4 years now (never broke a tooth). As the stick softens and the dog chews it helps clean the teeth but I would not rely strictly on a chew to clean teeth.

Gracie is now 4 years old and has never required a dental cleaning although she is checked yearly by the vet. I believe it is the enzymes in her food that help keep her teeth clean.

You can buy enzyme cleaners to put in your pet's water or to brush their teeth with if you feed regular pet food.

Anybody use the sprays? We used it on Sig (30 lbs Heeler), never brushed, sprayed on squirt each side before bedtime. Fresh breath and no tartar build up, red liquid, CET, Sig loved it, would lick it around.

Yorkies being much smaller, wondering if any users out there?

I use a spray, Leba III. I still brush as much as they will let me. They don't really like the spray, I think I need what you are using...if it makes them lick them all around..!

CET chews - get them on Amazon, not at the vet, they're WAY cheaper; don't get the petite size due to choking hazard

I've been letting him have the Purina Dental Chews -- it says they're a "veterinary diet" but I don't know, I got them on chewy.com w/ no RX. He likes them and they are VOHC approved so maybe they actually clean his teeth a little bit too in the process.

He gets the occasional bully stick when I feel like paying for them. The chews do come in handy for boring or rainy days so he doesn't drive me too crazy.
