Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Thanks for posting this...always a good reminder in this day and age when overweight pets are everywhere. They need to move and play!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Exercise is so much a key ingredient in a dogs healthy life. But just like humans before doing strenuous activity dogs need to warm up, and btw not that they think that they do. For example swimming any distance. A nice easy warm up is walk along the shore line, letting your dog get their feet wet. Then you can move into a gentle jog with your dog, and/or play a tug pull game. You can do this in 5 to 7 minutes before tossing that water toy a long way out. In fact start with closer in throws, again doing and observing your dogs physical ability. Most especially for the first few swimming sessions of the season. Puppies and older dogs require additional care. Shorter and more frequent training sessions are in order.
