| Oscar licking IV wound? Oscar just got back from the hospital and had an IV. They took it off yesterday and when I got him back, they didn't have a bandage on him to protect the wound. It wasn't until he started licking it it became a concern. Luckily he's not obsessed with licking it, just a few licks here and there. But should this be a concern?

| Toki does that too...I just gently rinse off her leg with a little water (maybe there's a little blood on the skin in that area or it's irritated from being shaved or something) and then distract her. She usually will leave it alone after I get her attention redirected. I wouldn't be concerned if he just licked it a few times and is now leaving it alone. |

| It might be irritated from shaving it and it might itch a little from healing or it could be sore.

| well Jess was licking her paw a lot and I saw it was red. Turns out she must have cut it and then licked a bacterial infection into it. Antibiotic shot and a cone for a week. (Not to mention her gas is whoo!) So you might want to cover it or cone him for a day or two.. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | A little licking is normal. It feels weird to them. It's sore and probably itchy like Taylor said. As long as he doesn't get obsessive about it he should be ok. Distracting him is a good idea.
