| Food Allergies Hi everyone. This is my first post here. I have a 3 yr old YorkiePoo girl. She was getting A LOT of ear infections and scratching at her self everywhere. We treated her ear infection and changed her food to a basic low ingredient dog food. She has been on Blue Buffalo Basic Salmon and Potato dry for two weeks now and she has stopped all of the scratching and digging and her ears are cleared up as well. My question is this....Should I add anything to her diet for nutrition? Is she missing out because she is not getting beef or chicken as a protein? |

| These kibbles are formulated to be nutritionally complete and balanced so it's not necessary to offer other kibbles with various proteins. Especially if you have a pup with allergies or food sensitivities and you don't know the specific ingredients that trigger it, I'd definitely stick with the food that they are tolerating well. If you were set on offering a different protein, I'd supplement the current kibble with small amounts of plain beef or chicken or whatever (making up no more than 20% of the diet without having to be balanced) as long as it was tolerated. But honestly I'd just stay with the food that keeps the allergies at bay and not worry about too much variety since you've found something that works for your girl. I'm glad you found a food to help relieve that scratching and digging ...my parents have a beagle that is sensitive to lot of different things and used to scratch and chew on herself badly... she does well on a limited ingredient diet too. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | That diet is AAFCO balanced, so no, she's not missing out on anything bc there is no red meat.
