| Paw Problems I've got a vet appointment for tomorrow, but thought I'd share and see if anyone has any ideas what is going on. Picked up the Yorkie from the sitter last night. He seemed his usual self. However when we got home (and after his walk) we noticed he was licking and chewing on his back right paw. We looked at it, and don't see anything wrong. We took a white kleenex and put it between the pads to see if there was any blood or seepage mixed in with the fur, but the kleenex came back clean. He wasn't limping. And he didn't react to us manipulating his paw or pads. He's a "special" dog, and he flinches when you pet him, so if he was in pain I would think I would have gotten a reaction. (He didn't have a very good life before we got him, and he's not the sharpest dog to begin with. The two often combine for some weird behaviors.) This morning he was really lethargic and didn't want to go for a walk. He just went onto the bed and curled up next to my wife. Normally in the morning he alternates running between me as I get ready and my wife (who is still sleeping) whose face he tries to lick. When I called him to go outside he came, and seemed fine. Did his business like usual, no limp. However when I came home for lunch after greeting me he went and curled up on the bed. When it was time for his walk he was still in the bed, he was lying on his back, and he kept kicking his right rear paw. I thought at first he was sleeping and having a dream, but he turned and looked at me. He then rolled onto his side but kept kicking his foot. I put him on the ground, and instead of following me as I got ready to take them outside, he went onto the couch and started licking and biting the paw on his foot again. I again took a look and didn't see anything wrong, and he showed no sign of pain. On the walk he seemed fine, although he might of been walking slower than usual (could just be my imagination), but no limp or anything. |

| Something could have bit him or it could be allergy's. Callie just went through this thing where her paw was swollen and itchy and we had to soak it and put medicine on it. Its best to keep him from licking it and have the vet check it out it could be anything really.

| I used a sock with Callie but my vet told me it needed air and to use a cone.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Do you have one of the plastic cone collars? That should keep him from getting to his back foot. ETA: Oops, I didn't see Taylor posting about the cone at the same time.

| As a general question just wondering is it okay to leave Yorkies in cone collars if you are gone for the day? I was also wondering this time of year many people fertilize their grass for the winter. I was wondering if you wash his paws off, maybe a reaction to chemicals? I hope you baby ids feeling better soon. Best wishes.

| If he's showing that much discomfort, I would take him to the vet. Momo was doing that & I think he got stung by a bee or a red ant. The vet inspected & cleaned his paw & gave him an anti-inflammatory & benedryl shots. He was fine after that. Vet said there was a bite on his paw but no stinger. Hope your guy will be ok.

I don't think it's allergies bc with allergies, they don't usually focus on just 1 paw.
