| Short Hair I'm thankful that I actually stumbled on to your site, I've got one question to begin with, well I have bought myself a Yorkie today, but what bothers me my new little one's hair is short, where the brother and the parents got beautiful long hair. Is it normal for a Yorkie of 8 weeks old to have short hair, and if so when will the hair start growing? Should I be in a PANICK???? |

| you won't see their grown up coat til they are at least a year old and even then it will still be short. I would recommend you get a book on yorkshire terriers to help answer some of your questions. Before I got mine I bought yorshire terriers for dummies and it answered a lot of my questions and gave a good start on training.

Ek hoop werklik Tikka se haartjies gaan gou begin groei, dis heelwat korter as jou woefie op 8 weke. Groete, Helen |

| Thank you Helen i would love to see pics of little Tikka Yorkies are the best! Where about did you get her if i may ask? We used to live is South Africa where we had 3 Yorkies, our first we got from a breeder is Rustenburg - second Yorkie (male) in Durban and the third we got in Jhb ... we brought them with us to Holland when we came back, they all passed at the respectable age of 14 our youngest of the three passed to the Rainbow Bridge in october 2003. The little girls we have now are 1 year and 9 months old

| It's a BIG pleasure, I got Tikka from a very nice lady and her husband who was a vet but on pension now staying on a farm near Magalies, which is about 60Km on the south side of Rustenburg. If I understand correct, they used to farm with pigs. Where in SA did you stay? I'm staying in Pretoria. |

| We lived in Jhb - White river (our son was born in Nelspruit) - Durban - Ladybrand - Lesotho - Sun-City The Lady we got our first Yorkie from was an EXCELLENT breeder i will NEVER for get her she lived on a farm in the Rustenburg area and SO devoted to this breed, ill never forget the interview we had with her, i was 17 at the time but she made me feel so comfortable while we were talking and she showed us ALL of her Yorkies and the TINY new borns i was AMAZED how SMALL they were - about a year later we read in the News paper that one of her dogs had a litter of 11 pups, if i remember correctly she had made a record with that, she had a picture in the News paper of all 11 in Champagne glasses. (WOW this is going down memory lane)

| It's fun reading South African as it is so close to Dutch (my native language). I actually understood almost all of it! Welcome to YT!

| Short Hair We just got our 2nd Yorkie about 3 weeks ago. She is now 11 weeks old. Her hair is short also but VERY THICK - it's unreal! I know it's her puppy coat. When does the hair start to change? |
