YT 2000 Club Member | Hi.....I am not 100 percent on this subject but I think she will stay in heat for around 2-3 weeks. It is normal for her to have a bloody discharge at this time. I'm sure someone with more knowledge on this subject will chime in soon. You can get dog diapers for her to wear during this time to help with the mess and prevention. I hope this helps and good luck!

| This old "keyboard warrior", in the spirit of education, will share with you, just so you dont wake up with a fermale that has been accidently bred, those pants with a hole for her tail will not stop a breeding from occuring if the opportunity presents itself. The only way to keep her safe is to make absolutely certain she does not get anywhere a male is. It lasts about 3 weeks, although she is not receptive/fertile during that entire time.......and now I will take my knowledge and crawl back under a rock. | That was just a warning in case anyone thinks any type of doggy pantie can stop an accidental breeding... nothing personal....

| Oh boy, I think you came on here w/such a bad defensive attitude & no way was Yorkiemom1 saying that you were going to breed your little girl. A male dog can smell a female dog in heat from miles away & will dig a hole through your house wall if he could! She's just advising you on CAUTION. Best of luck to you & your little one, sorry to see you go. If you want to leave YT, contact ADMIN.

| I know from mine that when in heat she is about 100 times faster at sneaking out the door on me.... I go out with her... I've heard it's no problem for male dogs who find a dog in heat to figure a way into a yard... either over or under a fence. Heard of some chewing through chain link fencing to get to a female in heat... Sorry I didn't see others had posted when I started typing... lol.

I love YT & have met wonderful Yorkie loving parents & I get offended if anyone says bad things about this forum. I don't know why you are venting the way you are, but that's one thing we all have in common here, we all love our dogs.
