...and don't know what to do. My Yorkie is on Natural Balance. Vet doesn't like it. He's been on over 10+ food, which isn't good I'm told. I only switched him back in the summer from another food which caused him to have bloody stool, but he's not having that issue. He only ate the string off of a ball, which he never did (I threw the ball out). Vet suggested "Iams, Science Diet or Royal Canine" (which he's been on in the past). I talked to my Yorkie friend tonight who shows, and she suggested "Royal Canine" over the other two since Iams caused death to one of the show ladies dogs. I just don't know what to do and I just bought another bag of Natural Balance which I order online. I called the Vet's office earlier and they told me that Natural Balance and a lot of these natural/holistic products are new on the market, where Iams, Science Diet and etc have been on the market for years and have the correct balance of protein and etc. I am now more confused of what to do or not to do. This is only the beginning of my confusion since I have even begun to talk about the treat issues~! Any suggestions of what I should do or not do~?

Feed what works best for you and your pet! If Natures Balance works for both of you than don't change

. If you have feed him others and always return to this food there is a reason why!

My vet is not a fan of raw but he can't argue that my 14 year old cat is looking much healthier since she now eats raw and THK food. She did not want to eat kibble and all tests came back excellent! If she wants raw meat than she can have it

.

The dogs eat FROMM and THK while my other cat eats FROMM kibble.

Tallulah has no interest in wet food and never has. She loves her kibble.

I currently home cook for my girls but I leave a dry food down for snacks. I use Science Diet as Rosie has major tummy issues. We use Science Diet I/D per my vets recommendation. I know there is many who don't like SD, however, I trust that my vet knows what is best for my girls. I agree on feeding what works best for your pup. For us it has been SD. I guess my question is, how much do you trust your vet? Another option is consulting with a nutritionists. I highly recommend Dr Rebecca Remillard. She does consultations.

I agree....do what is best for your baby. TBH and is somewhat a controversy subject, but I don't believe that vets are the best to give diet advice. I don't go to my doctor for my dietary needs so why should my furbutts? Just my two cents.

I would do some research on the company's of the food your vets want you to use. Maybe you need to talk to a vet nutritionist they can better tell you what your dog needs. I believe Iams was charged with animal cruelty. Purina which is another food vets like is the makers of waggin train chicken jerky and will not pull it even though it has killed many many dogs and I will not support either of those foods. You also need to look at ingredients and make sure there is no by products, sugar and artificial colors. Your dog sounds like he may need a simple food diet which blue buffalo and wellness both have. Have you tried those? I would really look into a vet nutritionist I think they could really help you and your dog.

I have no idea where your Vet is getting the idea that Natural Balance is new on the market. Natural Balance has been on the market for quite some time. I have used this before with several of my past dog's and it was a good food. If dog is doing good on the food why change?

Your vet should really like Fromm, which has 40 - 60 more years experience than either Iams or Royal Canin.

If Natural Balance is working for your baby, don't change. If the food ever stops working, take your vet's advice into consideration and look at those brands.

I'm in Louisville, KY and I've never heard of that Dr. I go to Shively Animal and I'm going to try their advise since they are "the best" in Louisville. I got some Royal Canine tonight at Petsmart and I consulted with the employee regarding my 3 choices the Vet recommended, and Royal Canine was a better choice. When we used it years ago, it was a larger bag and $4 cheaper.

I've heard that about Royal Canine as well. Too bad my female refuses to eat it. The little chowder head prefers Dog Chow to anything 'special' I buy. And no, I don't feed her Dog Chow.
