Default About to try Fromm...

Well I think I've jinxed myself posting in other threads about food recommendations. I've always raved about Blue Buffalo and about how both of my dogs absolutely love and thrive on the food. Well, my picky adult is just that....picky again. Sad thing is I know she's hungry because later on in the day she'll throw up bile but lately she just has no interest in the food or if she starts to eat it then she just won't finish it. It's not like she gets that much anyways. She had absolutely no interest this morning, took a couple sniffs then just stood there and stared at me and eventually walked away. I know the poor thing is about to throw up bile to.

I was just on Fromm's website and I'm really interested in the four-star line. I really love all the different varieties that they offer especially since I like to change up the proteins after every bag so she doesn't get this way.

Now my puppy on the other hand has absolutely no issues eating his Blue Buffalo. That food is gone in 30 seconds lol

I've heard that changing food CREATES a picky eater, because they're waiting for something different (kind of like giving a child different options at dinner time, they'll never eat what's placed in front of them). But personally, I feel that change is good. I wouldn't want to eat the same thing every day for every meal. So I do switch up foods for my dogs almost every day, I give the small dogs canned though (because I brush their teeth every day). They love Fromm canned 95% chicken, my pit bull loves the Fromm duck and potato dry.

I think you'll be pleased with it! Fromm smells pretty tasty even to me haha so hopefully your picky adult pup will like it too (those empty tummy yaks are no fun ).

We have been rotating through the grain-free varieties. I'd love to rotate different flavors every few days or every other week but we don't really go through it fast enough to justify me opening up 2 bags So we just end up doing a new flavor each bag! We haven't tried anything from the Gold or Classics line...the formulas seem a little grain heavy to me so we just stick to the Four Star line. Which one are you going to try first?

Are you sure she might not be sick? That doesn't sound like just normal pickyness to me. I think I would have the vet check her out.

Yep, it's my fault she is the way she is. She was extremely picky when she was a puppy and because she was my first dog, I freaked out every time she didn't eat so I would constantly change up her food until I found ones that she really enjoyed. After that I usually just changed up the brand/protein after every bag. She has a good stomach so I can switch her cold turkey no problem. She gets wet food with her dry to which was doing the trick for a long time so I was able to stick with one food but she has been funny ever since the puppy was brought home two months ago so I had a feeling it was only a matter of time.

That is exactly how I used to feed her, grain free varieties changing up brands everyday until I found that she seemed to thrive on Blue Buffalo Wilderness so I just kept her on that switching up flavors after every bag. She gets wet food to which was also doing the trick but ever since the puppy was brought home two months ago, she has been acting funny. She was the only dog for four years so definitely a change for her.

I actually just got back from the pet store and picked up "Chicken A La Veg" first. She was eating the duck formula of Wilderness so I didn't want to try duck with her first. I mixed the two together just in case since she hasn't had a food change in a LONG time (normally I can just go cold turkey) and just like I thought she had most of the Blue spit out all over the rug and in the bowl. She ate all the Fromm no problem but about half the Blue.

She was just at the vet, no issues. Pooping/peeing just fine to, drinking water normal, pink gums, etc.

I love Fromm, but unfortunately, Jackson's stomach does not. Well, nothing drastic or anything, but every time we've tried Fromm - he gets a bit of gas, softer poo, and itchy. We've tried it on 3 separate occasions and always with the same results. Though I have yet to try the new grain-free varieties, so maybe he'd react different to those.

I know the kibble size is super teeny tiny, like the size of ferret or cat kibble, LOL. And Jax likes larger kibble. He always looked at it funny, or would spit pieces out.

But great company, great food, great brand, customer service, etc.

You said she started acting funny about two months ago when you got the puppy. It really could have to do with that and it might take her time to adjust to the new pup.

Callie got really itchy on it too and ended up with a skin infection but I tried the Chicken veggie one. I didn't think the kibbles where that small or are you saying the ones for the grain free are? Callie likes smaller pieces and it can be hard for me to find the right size for her.

The grain free ones are very tiny.
All of them are pretty small, but the biggest I remember seeing was the pork & applesauce one.

I still haven't given up on trying it one day tho. We have yet to try beef, game bird or the salmon one (grainfrees).

I really just love Fromm as a whole, their business is superb IMO. Can't go wrong. I just wish they had a bit simpler formula food.

Oh yeah I forgot I had a tiny sample bag of the beef fritta one. Here is a photo of the piece of kibble on a penny.

Normally I feed her grain free but I happened to pick up the Chicken A La Veg formula and so far so good. No hesitation when it comes to eating. I figured I would stick with a protein I know shes eaten before rather than trying something new although heck she may even like the proteins shes never had before.
