For this post which dog food are you referring to? No one mentioned veterinary prescription dog food. Royal canine and many of the Dog food advisor site can be bought at any petstore.

Cheaper/lower cost dog food has more fillers so you may have to feed more to get the same results than of a higher quality food is feed.

I know someone who only feeds Ol'Roy and their dogs live long lives at least 13 years. But I myself would never feed it.

Why is Puppy Chow bad?

I mix about 1/3 of those tiny containers of Cesar with some kibble for Copper's dinner every night. I leave out kibble during the day. I use Royal Canine kibble for yorkies. I've never had any problems with either. You have to decide what you use. If the dog likes it and is healthy and well, great!
