I was thinking melanoma too. That was my first thought when I saw it... Her appointment is Monday and I have to stop looking on the internet about it between now and then or I might go nuts! I will let you know how it goes. Thanks!

Forgive me if this seems too far out... My Marley had a good sized lump on one side of his breast bone when I adopted him. Since he had a good many health issues to deal with all at once, his Vet didn't focus on that as he gave me a summary of ''fixes" we would need to do over the coming months. When I again mentioned my concern about the lump on his breastbone, the vet took him back to the exam room and came back with a gi-normous tick! A TICK!! OMG! He had been sleeping with me for a week! I hope you have scraped and moved this spot to the point you're sure it's not a parasite.

It's hard to tell for sure but looks like it deff needs to be checked out by your vet & DO NOT scrape or poke it till your vet sees it.

Glad u found out about the tick! There is no lump on Isabelle, just that slightly raised and rough black spot that came out of nowhere. She was much more cooperative this morning (still sleepy!) and I got a better look and wiped it lightly to see if it might be dirt or something. No such luck. After a sleepless night, I called the vet this morning and begged to be seen! She goes at 2:10 today. Wish her luck! Laura

| Many dogs get spots like this that look like moles but they turned out to be bacterial skin infections. Good luck on Monday!

Isabelle went to the vet yesterday. First thing the vet said was "that looks unusual".... My heart sank. But after scraping and testing, it turns out it is nothing to be worried about. A little mole that got scraped and was part scab too. I am wiping with medicated wipes and it looks better already! Had blood work done just to be sure. So the only bad news I got is that she needs to lose 2 lbs! Thank you for all of your advice and kind words! Laura
