how to keep a pup still? how do you keep him still for things like, eye medication application, ear cleaning, teeth cleaning. my pup fights like there's no tomorrow. and he gobbles up the toothpaste before it even hits his teeth!

I have the same problem.... She's getting better with the eye cleaning, bathing & brushing. She's starting the figure out the quieter she is and more still she stands, the faster it's over. Teeth cleaning is another issue, my husband and I just team up on her and don't let her go until it's over. I'm hoping she'll get used to it eventually.

well, I hope someone can help you because I sure can't. Shelby is 8 months old and I feel like such a failure. Yes, she is getting better but .... I "brush" her teeth with gauze wrapped on my finger with her favorite toothpaste. I stand behind her, wrap her body in my legs, hold her head still with my left hand and start "cleaning" the back teeth with my finger. I do it quickly and feel around each tooth as much as I can. Not great but better than nothing right? I see gunk on the gauze so it's doing something. Now, someone tell me how to get her to hold still so I can give her a ponytail!

I have used a baby blanket at times and wrapped them up with only their heads sticking out. Like a papoose as a last resort. This was when I had a monster who would not take their medications and it was a dire situation. All I can say is try and say good and give a treat and repeat.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I too would love to know how show breeders get their dogs so well behaved. I cannot get either of my dogs to sit still for grooming etc! My sister says my dogs know I'm a wimp. She can come over and shave Cali's ear tips and brush her. My husband and I tried to do her ears the other day and got no where!!
