| smelly ears Lizzie who is 10 weeks has really smelly ears and last night when we looked in them they were filled with crud. It took about 15 q-tips to clean them out.....does this mean she has an ear infection.... |

| Yes, your little girl most likely has an ear infection. My Codie gets ear infections every once in a while so I keep a fresh prescription of ear drops in the house at all times. I also clean his ears with q-tips every day along with his general grooming of brushing his teeth and combing his hair.

| I am pretty sure that means she has an ear infection. We try to smell Zeus' ears often to make sure that he doesn't have an infection. I would take her to the vet.

| Zeus had one when he was about her age and the vet said that it probably came from not drying his ears thoroughly after a bath.

| she hasn't had a bath yet but I do remember that when we brought her mom home and we took her for the 1st check up she had one and the breeder said she had always been in her play pen so maybe it will be a hereditary thing....Lizzie has a cleft pallatte so I hope this isn't the beginning of more medical problems |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | WHen I took Cali to the vet at about 11 weeks they checked her ears and couldn't believe ho much crud they got out. They did a culture on it and it was a yeats infection so they gave me drops and a cleaner. It cleared up fast.

| I'm thinking your baby probably has an ear infection. Since she's so young I would definately take her in to your vet to be treated rather than trying to treat it with at home kit. Does she cry when you clean them or whine during the day and scratch at her ears or rub them against things? If so, then she most definately has an ear infection and is probably in some pain.. Poor baby I hope she feels better soon!

| Glad you found out what is was.... my vet actually smells my dogs ears... two of my yorkies just have alot of ear wax..... If it smells it is usually an infection. My yorkies have never had ear infections (knock on wood!!).
