| Vet? I need some advice. Kaos has never had a steady vet. When he was a baby he got his shots, and stiches removed when I lived out of state. When he was 4 monthes he got a checkup/shots and neutured at the aspca. Then when he was 5 months, and 14 months he ended up at the hospital, where he got full work ups. Now that he is turning two next month I would like to get a full check up and bloodwork. I called the local vet and they said it would be over $200. Is that normal for just a checkup? Or should I call around? Just not sure since he's always been seen at ER, where it cost a TON anyway...so I pretty much have no clue what to expect for normal vet visits.

| Did he miss his one year boosters? Depends on the amount of bloodwork done. That price is very normal and should be planned for at least once a year. Exam. Heartworm test Heartworm preventative Flea/tick preventative (optional) Fecal (at least once yearly) Should really have a blood panel with CBC Urinalysis wouldn't hurt Vet will assess teeth to see if dental is needed. A cleaning would probably be another couple hundred..

| He got his boosters at the 14 month visit. He stayed the night with the vet, but was good to go by the next morning so they gave him his boosters. They also did a blood panel with CBC, and urinalysis that night and again in the morning. Thanks for the info...I'll set up the appointment then.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | That price sounds about right to me.. I know just by the time time I pay the office visit, do routine bloodwork and fecal I am already at about 200.. I think my vet includes a heartworm test with her bloodwork.. I am not sure.. but something is ringing a bell here... I just plan for it.. If I did the math right.. It's only about 16.60 per month I put in my savings for next year.

| You sound like me... I've never had a steady vet, either. Been all over the place. I really wish I could find someone that I really love and trust!
