| LP Advice Tia and Ally went for their annual today and the vet said that Tia has slight LP on her right rear leg. She weighed in at 6.5 lbs and turned one year January 23rd. (Ally is 2.5 years and weighed in at 3lbs 6oz and the dr said she was slightly chunky! lol) They climb on the couch using stairs and never jumped down. Is there anything I should be doing or watching for to make sure it doesn't get worse as she grows? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am googling also, but I know you will have first-hand information that we highly value! |

| My little Cricket had bilateral LP. We got stairs for her so she did not jump on/off furniture. We also watched how long walks were and watched her weight over the years. Later in her life, vet prescribed Glucosamine chondroitin which seemed to help her. She never required surgery. I was just always overprotective of her joints. Hope this helps!

| I would talk to my vet about adding a supplement. There is the glucosamine supplements, cosequin and dasuquin to name a few. I have mine on the Dasuquin as my boy had lp surgery in one leg and has lp in his other. My girl has low grade 2 in both her knees and you would not be able to tell one bit--she is 3. I would definitely look at getting stairs or ramps. The more you can prevent them from jumping it will help. good luck and just because they have loose knees does not mean surgery.

| Thanks. We use steps/stairs and we don't allow them to jump. The vet said she doesn't need anything right now and she may never need surgery. It doesn't bother Tia right now and I'm trying to keep her healthy so she won't need surgery. I will look at adding supplements to her diet. Thanks again. |
