| For me insurance is a must.... I never insured any of my previous pets (horses) mostly because they were business assets. (yes I loved them as my own babies, but at the end of the day I knew where my money sat with them). I made a decision after one of our boarding horses passed from colic, and they lost a lot of money trying to save the horse, how much money I would be willing to spend on each one should they get hurt or sick. It was a difficult decision to make. When I bought Harley I fell so in love with him that if anything happened to him I wanted to be able to look the best vet in the eye and say "do what you need to do, money isn't an issue." Of course money is an issue for me, so insurance is the only way I could afford to say those words. I admit some times I think I'm wasting a lot of money. but in the event that something big happened, I'd be safe, my dog would come home healthy. Not sure about plans in the UK. I use PetSecure, I don't know which other countries they service.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I have PetPlan for Pfeiffer and just love it. I wish I'd gotten it early for Wylie and Marcel, but now it's too late bc they're a little older. Here is an article...some of the info may apply in the UK: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...ml#post3553175

| I have Trupanion for Riley.....and am glad I do. I recently had to take him to the Vet 3-times, in a 4-week period at close to $350 for ear infections, initially brought on by an allergic reaction to something he walked over....... and they have reimbursed 90% of Everything, except for the examination fees....I actually May have to take him back in, again, this week..... not sure they are completely healed, yet... UUGGHH!!!! I pay $32.68/month and have - 0 - deductible....and 90% reimbursement. [Illness & Injury, only.] That is probably less than 1-night out to eat, here in the city. I have been paying it for almost 1-year in hopes I would Never have to use it. |

| I don't have insurance for ZoE. I'd heard too many stories about things not being covered and difficulties seeking treatment with specialists of your choosing. Instead, I opened a CD account for her that should more than cover any unplanned expense she may encounter, and it's earning interest!

| Yes, it covers everything, even genetical issues. It does no cover routine things, neuters, and dental.

Are all and I do mean all "genetic conditions covered'? Are there any riders or stipulations that reduce that coverage? Is there an annual or a lifetime coverage limit? by that I mean if I have to spend $10,000 in one year due to accident or illness is that covered in toto? For lifetime coverage; is there a ceiling? Are my premiums fixed no matter what my claims history is? Must I go to only a set list of vets that your insurance plan covers? Before I sign on the dotted line; may I review your entire coverage plan I am thinking of signing up for?

If not that some credit card with that amount of room in it. We self insure our dogs, and let me tell you, this year has been a very expensive one.

Thia is a good idea. We have a savings account for Ruby, but it doesn't earn much. With a CD, is there penalties for withdrawing your money early? | |

| My little 7 year old puppy mill bichon has lived with me for a year now. In that time she had bladder stones and although didn't need an operation, had lots of xrays and urine tests. The insurance paid out without any problems. Sadly Poppy has now been diagnosed with the start of cataracts in both eyes. As each eye will cost around £3,000, I am glad that I have her insured. I would definitely say have your dogs insured, specailly if they are young.

It will provide for any needed medical care, and should anything happen to me, ZoE would go to my daughter, and ZoE's trust will provide for her care for the rest of her life.

| Just curious to know. I know most pet insurance companies require that you pay for the services upfront and they reimburse you. Are there any companies that pay for the services directly? Like human healthcare? |
