| Eating everything! Hi all Izzy eats lots of stuff off the ground and as a result now has lungworm, hookworm and roundworm. What am I to do? I brought her to the vet of course. She is playing the stubborn game with me about not liking her dry food. She wants her baby carrots, and lots of treats. so I have to control those and wait until she is really hungry to eat her food. I have ben giving her Fromm puppy gold, which is now almost gone, so I am also looking for what I should give her next. SHe is 7 months and 7 lbs. THanks!!! |

have you tried Orijen yet? My Izzy LOVES it.. It's the only dry food she will eat. She also gets 2 raw nuggets of primal everyday in the morning she had been eating this since she was 7.5 month old.. We have tried EVERYTHING..lol Good Luck

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...lung-worm.html She can still be on a puppy food until she is a year old. I give mine Dick Van Patton's Ultra Premium Chicken Small Bites. She's eaten it for some years now and still loves it. I, also, change a second dry food and mix a little in with it. Currently, the second food I'm using is Fromm's Chicken a la Veg. She likes it, but she loves her Dick Van Patton's. I hope your little girl will get over the problems she's having now.

| This is a link to the food I give mine. It is for all stages and not just puppies. It is called Natural Balance. I forgot to mention that. Natural Balance Ultra Premium Formula For Dogs | PetFoodDirect I was also going to suggest that you remove your dog's feces from the yard to minimize contamination of the soil. This is a link about the different types of worms to help you know what to watch for: Types of Dog Worms | Canine Parasites

| A monthly heartworm preventavite from your vet will protect Izzy from hookworms and roundworms, so definatly talk to your vet about that. Alice is the same way about wanting to "eat" everything on the ground, so I watch her very carefully and if she seems "focused" on a spot, I quickly tell her "no" and move her along. I looked at the link on lungworm because I'm not too familiar with it and wow that gave me the heebie geebies. If I were you, I'd go to a tractor supply store or a home depot and talk to them about something to treat your yard with that gets rid of slugs and snails (I don't have experience with it, but there must be something) and be super diligent in watching her when she's outside.

| I use Orijen also, that was the one dry food i tried that Alice really likes. Sometimes I have to mix a little bit of Evenger's canned (the only canned food she'll eat) in with it to get her started, but most of the time she'll eat the Orijen by itself. You're right, definatly no more treats until she eats her food. she'll fill up on them and definatly not want to eat her food, plus you may have a little battle for a while since she's so used to being given a treat if she doesn't eat her food, but don't give in.
