It contains an ingredient called Permethrin that is HIGHLY toxic to cats. If a dog is treated with a product containing this, such as K9 Advantix and some OTC topical products and the cats mouth comes in contact with the dog through playing, grooming or biting, the cat can have a major problem, alot of the time even fatal. Regular Advantage doen't contain this ingredient but it also dosn't take care of ticks. Frontline Plus does kill ticks, but is a completely different compound and does not contain permethrin.
