Yorkie Talker | Slim Down Diet Plan for Yorkies Help. I got a little confused. Since Moe was a pup, he has always been on the Royal Canin Yorkshire Jr diet. When he was 10 mos, we switched to Yorkshire Adult. We follow the food portion (with the cup that goes with your purchase of Royal Canin) I had him spayed last Sept (when he was 8 mos old) and now he is 1 yr and 2 mos old and weighs 3.2 kg. We walk, we run, and he is extremely active. Aside from his Royal Canin, he has Cosi milk, and a stick of JERHIGH as treats during tricks time. Does Royal Canin make dogs fat? What's the best way to put Moe on a diet? thanks! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Does Moe "feel" overweight? Meaning, are his ribs too buried under the skin/fat? If yes, then maybe try feeding a bit less...and you could add some green beans btwn meals so he doesn't get too hungry. What is Cosi milk?

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | My Yorkies struggle with this same problem. The one that I am most concerned about thou is our male who has recently been neutered and all of a sudden blew up like a Parade Float..... (yes.. His ribs are sunk in under fat) Probably didn't help letting them free feed. They have all been on a portion diet for four months now with no results ! My Doc says that being neutered, lack of exercise during the winter, his age and lack of motivation all are factors that are against him. Plus they lose weight slowly! I cant let them in the main yard to run/get much needed exercise until they have received there Lepo vac. due next month. Hoping for some good results after some well needed exercise. (I could stand losing a few lbs myself for the same reasons) I feed them Pedigree and I found that they offer a diet meal. But I wonder do diet meals work ? Is your pup getting enough exercise?

Yorkie Talker | Whew! I could still feel his ribs. I am currently giving him about 60-70% of his recommended portions. I'm afraid if I cut down too much, he might get weak and sick. COSI is milk for dogs in 1L carton boxes. That's what is always available here in Manila (Philippines). Sometimes, I could buy the powdered PUPPY LUV but its not always available. |

| Did your vet tell you your dog was overweight? If you can feel his ribs well, he may not even be overweight. Some yorkies get bigger than expected, so maybe he is at an okay weight ? |

it seems like at moe's age he is a standard size yorkie! i wouldnt worry unless if the doc says hes overweight or he suddenly gained a lot of weight.
