| Question for the RAW feeders Today is day two for Chewy on Natures Variety Raw- Venison. She LOVESSSSS it!!! but i feel like shes hungry.... According to the website she should be eating 3 oz per day (she weights 7.3 lbs). I've been giving her 1.5 medallion at 8:30 am and 1.5 at 6:00 pm. She swallows all the pieces in under 5 seconds and then freaks out begging for more. She whines, barks, cries, sits by her bowl, etc.. I wound up giving her an extra half an ounce for dinner. How much do you guys feed compared to the instruction on the website? I want to make sure my monkey isnt hungry Anything else you guys could suggest or comment about the food in general would be great.. especially anyone dealing with allergies. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I have to feed my kiddos a little bit more than the guidelines...but they're pretty active little stinkers. I always start w/ the guidelines and then feed to body condition (feel their ribs etc). She may seem hungry bc she loves the food too...sometimes that happens after a new food. But also, you could try feeding her some green beans or other fiber-rich foods in between meals...she'll probably love you even more for it .

| Thanks.. i think i may have to do 1.5 medallions in the morning but 2 in the evening because she sleeps all day while were working but is more active in the evening. just want to get opinions from anyone else feeding this food.. Shes such a cutie i would up giving her a piece of carrot and some edemame i was eating. A little background for anyone in the same position... she's had terrible allergies for 3 yrs.. i'v written about them here quite a bit. Day 2 and it seems that her reddness has gone down significantly, diareah has turned into tiny dry poop and (knock on wood) she hasnt itched yet since ive been home from work. We're had an environmental allergy test done and now a food allergy test showed that she is allergic to : Fish - All the vets told me to use fish oil for her skin problems. Beef - no more bully sticks Corn - She lovesss cheerios for a snack Milk - No more cheese (and apparently a lot of dog foods also have milk or dairy products such as yogurts) |

| Like Wylie's Mom said, you will just have to experiment w/what works for your pup...My 4 lb. Chorkie gets 3 oz. a day (she's a real calorie burner), and my 5 lb. 4 oz. Yorkie gets 3 oz. a day...However, Buzz, the boy gets 4 oz. a day, and only weighs 5 lbs. 9 oz.! He's not neutered, so probably uses a lot of calories, producing testosterone... |

| I feed Sasha Primal Raw but only in the morning. I give her kibble in the evening for dinner. According to the website, she should be getting 2.8 nuggets per day which is approximately 1.4 nuggets per meal. Since I only feed her raw once a day, I just give her 1 1/2 nuggets for breakfast and then she only eats 1/8 cup of kibble for dinner. She weighs 7lbs. and I'm extremely happy with her figure. She's maintaining her weight so well so I have no need to change what I'm doing. |

| My 4.5lb Snickers is supposed to get 2oz a day according to the Primal website, but he is eating 3/3.5oz per day and doing very well with weight. I think the amounts on the websites are a little low. We really like raw and both my dogs are doing phenomenal on it!!! Viv |

| If he is hungry than definitely feed him more. The guidelines are just that, guidelines based on averages. Every pups system is different, with various needs depending on their unique metabolism and their exercise expended. So if he is hungry feed him another potion. Better to make sure that he is getting enough to build his body, then having anatomical issues show up later. As for allergies...Andromeda has issues with them on and off throughout the year, and we believe that they are mostly environmental. However, that being said, once they are active she becomes sensitive to many other things besides just the environmental ones, like Chicken in particular. I have found that keeping her GI tract in top condition is essential in maintaining her immune system. Good luck ... |

| one of the reasons I don't like to feed pre-made raw is because they do gobble it down so fast! just like humans, it takes a while for their belly to send info to the brain to say they are full...thats why people always say to eat slowly and take your time. He might still feel hungry, but if you wait a little while, maybe his "full" sensors would kick in. thats one problem a prey model raw diet solves. if i put down a chicken leg for dexter, he licks it first getting the digestive juices flowing, then has to work to rip apart the meat. he usually take 30 mins+ to eat a meal and he stops when he is full. |

| I also added Raw Meaty Bones into our premade diet. I added Primal chicken backs and give mine 1/2 on a back every other day to help with chewing satisfaction and a variety. Viv

She gets 3 nuggets per day and about 1/4-1/3 Orijen Red ... This is has been the best feeding combo for her. She also gets Primal lung puffs, bites of fresh fruit, zukes, k-9 granola or any other natural treat I have. ( i keep her drawer pretty well stocked..lol)
