| Can my puppy hear? Is there a way to have my puppy's hearing tested? He is about 9 weeks old, and when he is not looking at me, I can clap, call his name, and he is in his own little wolrd. However, when he is sleeping, I can shake a rattle 0r make someother loud noise and he awakes. John |

| A vet should be skilled enough to check for sure. My opinion is if you shake a rattle and he wakes he can hear. The other times when he doesnt respond I think he is just being a pup in his own world. I have 4 month old kittens that have selective hearing also. If you are still uncertain though have him checked by a vet

| When I took a dog to the vet to check on this, I was told to begin by waiting until the dog was not looking at me and clink to pan lids together. The dog should at least turn around. Mine didn't. SO he went for further testing. If your dog wakes when you shake a rattle, I would think he's able to hear it. Maybe he's just ignoring you the rest of time? Schedule a visit with your vet to really get to the bottom of it. |
