| Preventing car sickness I am going to be driving out of town on Friday and taking Pinot with me. The drive is about 2 hours. Is there anything I can give her before hand that will prevent her from getting car sick? She got really sick on her way home from the breeder (2.5 hour drive) and was salivating all over the place by the time we got home! I don't want to put her through that again ... Any tips? Thanks everyone!

| Monkey and Maddie don't get car sick when I take them anywhere...i don't think but I do travel with them a lot by plane. Learned plenty about traveling from the members here on YT! So, I will pass on some of the things they've passed to me! Make sure not to let Pinot eat or drink at least 3-4 hours before you plan to leave. You can freeze a small covered bowl of water to take with you so that she can lick on ice if she gets thirsty. If she drank water during the trip, she may drink too much and that can cause her to be sick as well. I would take her bed and just put it in the back seat so that she will feel at home and it will be easier for her to sleep if she starts for feel bad. If you plan on crating her for the trip, you can put a lining (similar to a no slip lining for rugs or the sort of lining you would put in your kitchen drawers and such) inside her crate under her blankets so that she doesn't slide around with the motions. I hope this helped a little!

| rosie suffers with car sickness, iy used to beall the time we went out in the car, she would foam at the mouth and besick poor soul, what my vet said is to make sure she can see out at all times and that theres water for her to drink as she will get thirsty, but the main thing is to keep taking her in the car for short trips all the time, rosie can now tolerate short trips before shes sick, but my vet said that some dogs are just travel sick like us humans and i take plenty of tissue and old towels with me, once shes been sick she settles and sleeps the rest of the way. hope this helps a little. |
