our vet told us to apply frontline plus on our dog, i was told it will take 24-48 hours before the oil dry up,. and our little guy sleeps with us every night, there is not a night he does not sleep with us. do you know if it is ok for us( humans) to be around frontline plus when the oil is not dry yet?

also our yorkie sleeps under the sheets.

i google and it said it was toxic for humans, it's late at night and my vet is closed, and i plan to apply it right now

You may want to try to use a hair dryer on COOL setting to help dry it up before they get into bed with you.....

I always let Levi's frontline dry for a few hours, and then put a shirt on him before I let him in my bed - less out of fear that the medicine is toxic, more because I don't wait the oily residue on my bed!

ok, i know this is a freak thing, but i will tell you a story.

when our other dog(not a yorkie) was a puppy, she slept with us every night with her head on our pillow. we then changed the frontline formula to the plus version. she was blowed dried after her bath, the frontline was put on. before going to bed, i took a shower. my hair was still wet.

two days later i got these itchy hives at the base of my neck under my hair. they progressed and i would itch, then these bumps would appear. it got worse over the next day or two, where each bump attached to the other and my entire body was covered in large, itchy patches. i couldnt sleep, my tongue swelled. i went to a few doctors, allegists, the hospital over a weeks time. they said it was an acute allegic reaction, but there was nothing else i had been around. i tried a few different medications, and the hives only started to lessen while on 3 different meds, one of which was predisone, a steriod. we were washing everything over and over, including the dog. every time we washed everything, i would feel a little better for a few hours, then it would just increase right back to before. i cannot stress how awful this was, think bugs crawling under your skin nonstop 24 hours a day.

i think i particularly had an allergic reaction to one of the ingrediants. i am sure it can transfer to humans via hair when sleeping together. i have read others having similar issues. i have also read of dogs having reactions as well. and as with any allergy, you or the dog could use something several times fine before having a reaction. so i dont think its dangerous, but anybody could be allergic to anything. just use caution because once you are exposed, thats it. its supposed to last on the dog, therefore, it stayed in my system, as well.
