Scratching

I gave my yorkie a bath with mane and tail, which I have used before and now she is scratching her back relentlessly. I bought some medicated shampoo and it hasn't helped yet. She now has red scabs where she has been itching. Any ideas?

With the red scabs appearing, I'd get to the vet pretty quick. When they break skin from scratching - an infection can be very likely. It'd be a good idea to get a skin culture and/or scope a skin scrape as well.

This could be bacterial, fungal, flea allergy, or an enviro allergy (including pollen). Before assuming a diagnosis of allergies, however, fungal/bacterial/parasitic needs to be ruled out.
