food problem? Hi guys ... I have a 4lb boy that's about a year old and for last week or so he has stopped eating like he used to, he just kind of nibbles a little, and he has lost a little weight. He can't eat moist food cause it makes him very sick, but I tried mixing it with his dry last night and he ate it all. But he was sick all day. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could add to his dry food, that's simple and good for them, other then the wet food?? He has a good health history. He had a hernia operation as a baby, and was fixed about 2 monthes ago, and updated on all his shots. He gets flea and tic protection monthly, and I just can't figure out what caused this change.

| what are you feeding. maybe put him on a bland diet boiled chicken and rice for few days to settle his stomach; add some probiotics. to entice his apetite you can add a little of solid gold green tripe to his dry food. dogs love this stuff.

food Does he have loose stools? Is he vomitting? Hold his food for at least 24 hours if he is and I agree with the boiled skinless chicken breast and rice. Please let your vet know everything. Also, Oatmeal is good for the belly.Keep us posted.........Boops mom

Hi! My little one is finicky as well as sensitive to a lot of foods out there. After trying many many brands, I have found one that I can feed her without mixing any wet food. She is about 16 months old and loves Royal Canine for Yorkshire Terriers. I usually mix it with a little bit of warm water so it softens (she doesn't like dry hard food). She eats it without any fuss and I haven't dealt with any stomach issues since. I hope this helps!

He currently eats iams, and has since he was eight weeks. He had loose stools, but it was from the wet food, and I'm pretty sure it has passed. I'm brining him to the vet Tuesday, so I was looking for ideas until then. I will try the royal canine for yorkies. Cause I've fed him just a little of the chicken in the past and he had the same reaction.

If you are considering switching to a different food, you might want to wait until after his stomach issues are over. In the meantime you might want to add some warm water to his food to make it a little more palatable.

I went to the vet today. They reccomendeded the switch to science diet. So I picked it up brought it home and he ate it like a little monster. And he's actually drinking a lot now, which is kind of weird since he drinks very minimal, and always has. Hopefully it will be a good change for him.

add warm water to his food to soften it. My Ella will actually eat ALLL her food if I do that. If he's a tiny little guy make sure to give him some nutra cal or puppy gel so he doesn't get hypoglycemic.

I had never heard of Solid Gold Green Tripe before. Being desperate to find something that my Lola wouldn't turn up her nose at I went to Petco and bought two cans. For me it's like a miracle food for one of the few times she licked her bowl clean when I gave it to her alone and also when I mixed some of her kibble in it. Thanks for the good advice.

I think Tessa would win the prize for the pickiest eater in the WORLD...I was feeding her different foods that were all on the A+ list but kept having to change cause she would decide to not eat it anymore...then she got Pancreatitus and it's been hell every since. I've got her on Fromm's senior dog food cause she can't have any fat...but as of today she no longer wants to eat the $4.00 a can food anymore... Does anyone know if there is alot of fat in the tripe...I keep reading how dogs love it but I don't know if she can have it...But I think she got the Pancreatitus from sneaking the cat food, which I have moved and she can no longer get to it...even tho she tries...thank goodness I love my little high maintenance girl...lol

if u only add a teaspoon of green tripe to the food; then that shouldn't be a problem ; that will entice her appetite. what is the fat % on the fromm canned food that you are feeding?
