| Spay & Neuter I have two Yorkies. They are from the same litter and were born March 23 2010, so they will be 6 months old next week. I know I have to get at least one of them fixed soon. I am thinking of having Coco go first (the bigger male). Last time they were weighed he was a little over four pounds and Bacci (the little girl) is only a pound smaller but it looks like a big difference. She is tiny compared to Coco. They are healthy, eat well, get enough exercise and are very much loved. I just heard that we might wait a little longer for her because of her size. And I've also heard many opinions on waiting after their first heat or before it or right at the 6 month mark. Any suggestions? I'm altogether freaking out about them going through this but I feel Bacci would have a very hard time being pregnant because of her size and we don't want Coco going crazy and marking his territory all around the house. But I do know at least one of them should get fixed very soon. (I attached these two pictures to give an idea of the size difference). |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | If they were mine I would have my male neutered first....but, I might consider getting both altered at the same time. With both having surgery at the same time, they could recover together. You wouldn't have to worry as much about keeping one from trying to play with the other while he/she recovered. Also, check with your vet and see what they recommend.

| I just had Tia spayed with 2 baby teeth removed Saturday. It is very hard to keep her from playing/wrestling with Ally. Tia was 4 lbs 2 oz last week. Ally was 3 lbs when she had her surgery last year. Tia is now exactly one pound bigger than Ally and she does look bigger with her fluffy hair. I know what you mean about the size difference. Good luck. Hope recovery goes well! |

| I would suggest considering doing them at the same time .provided it is okay. This way they can be.quiet together. I can understand the concern for your little girl, Maggie was under 4 lbs when she was stayed. Good luck with whatever you decide.

| Merlin was born March 8, 2010 and he just got neutered last friday. I was worried but he did awesome. I would go with your male first if you don't want to do them both at the same time. I got premature baby onesies for Merlin to wear so he couldn't lick his stitches and that worked so well. He is already back to his usual self.

Wrigley was 6 1/2 months and 3 1/2lbs when she was spayed and she did great! I would make sure do all the blood work to make sure everything is ok!

| Thank you everyone! I just called my vet and we're most likely getting them fixed together. I am completely comfortable with my vet and trust his decision. He says size isn't an issue for him; that everything is just a little smaller. This way they can both recover together. : ) |
