| Erection Problem Chloe' was fixed at 15 weeks. He is walking around so uncomfortable, then I noticed why. This is happening too often, like 5 times a week. Should I bring him to the Vet, or is this normal. He's going to be 3, Its just me and him in the house and he's a house dog. Thanks for your help. I need it. I don;t know what to do for him except ignore him, but I feel sorry that he can not walk. |

| Evidently he is humping a toy or blanket. Find out what it is and take it away. If you catch him doing this correct him and remove the object of his affection. This can cause serious injury if it is ignored. Exercise him more to keep him tired. A good walk or play twice a day. |

| My maltese was fixed but he still had a favorite bunny that he liked to . . . spend time with. He looooved that bunny. Until, one day, it got thrown in the washing machine. Poor Casper. He never had another close friend like that.

| thanks but he wakes up with one. Toys are not the problem... this is happening very natural for him. Yes if he was humping something I would take it away, but he's not. (at these times) sometimes he gets up from lying down and he looks crippled and I say what's wrong and sure enough it's there.... That's why I am worried. I did say to the vet when he asked how he's doing that he gets up with it and he smiled and walked away, I think I embarrassed him.... |

| If he was castrated then he should not have an erection, right? You should see the vet and speak in clear terms to him.

| I thought he would have it at times. This is the first time I heard that he should not have one. Thanks. I always had females.

After I had both boys neutered Doodlebug who was 6 months at the time had a full erection. He was out in the yard with Bogey and would not come when I called him and was standing funny. Boy was I shocked when I went to pick him up! He was fully erect and looked like he was in pain and frightened out of his mind! I brought him in the house and put him into the kitchen sick with cold water~guess it wasn't cold enough and it didn't go down. So I called the vet concerned about his "condition" and he told me to bring him in. Before I left, I decided to put him into the shower~I held him in the stream of cold water and he started to swim in the air but it worked 'cause POOF it was gone Bogey still brings out his lipstick a couple times a week and does not have a love toy either. It's been a few years since he was neutered and it only peeks out~nothing like what happened with Dbug and I have never needed to resort to the shower swimming either. It is all natural and part of being a dog. I would guess with a little more time he will not be able to get a full erection and only occasionally have just a small part peek out.

| Oh my, I thought after all hormones are out of the system it would be impossible to get an erection, especially if the surgery was early. I can see that they will get excited with their beloved toys but waking up with a "woody"?

| I think you make alot of sense. This dog sees no one but me we live in a condo on the beach, Its white inside, he never get dirty. I don't let him run around in grass or dirty places. He looks picture perfect until he starts to walk. Its happened every day this week. Its a little too much for me, but he sounds like he's normal for a dog. But I will call the vet's sister on Monday she answers the phone.... LOL Quote:
