| Nutri-Stat ok guys, I have a question....How much Nutri-stat can you give a puppy. i never know if Dollar is getting enough food to fill him. He does eat, but I give him the Nutri stuff but can you give a puppy too much? I usually give him like 5 finger tips full and he just licks it off. Will I hurt him if I give him too much? When is it too much?

| one finger tip full twice a day is enough. too much when they get older can cause obesity. I would check with your vet just in case I'm wrong. |

| wow...that is scary. OK, I will ask, but I am afraid to say that the vet that I have right now doest seem to be too helpful! Now I am afraid that i am over doing it...Dollar weight 1.6 lbs when we got him and a little over a week later he now weighs 1.9...does that mean that i am over doing it?

| we would give madison a dime size amount twice a day when we first got her... now we give her only when she isnt eating enough or when she has done something really special - she loves it so much! the vet told us to limit it though because it will make her gain a lot of weight if over used!

most vets sell it...we have tried both "nutri-cal" and "high cal". she loves both, but prefers high-cal. if you do an internet search you will find sites that sell it - its usually about $7 or so...

| Every single one of my Yorkies will not eat NutriCal but gobble up NutriStat.. I do not give it as a daily supplement if my dogs are eating and thriving. I use it as a treat after a really yucky med or procedure. I would ask your breeder if you should be needing to supplement your puppy's food.. |

| regarding Nutri-stat I use "petgold"-supercal. It's Petco's version of Nutrical. My male, Jig, loves it. He's a little scrawny when you feel his body to the point I can feel his pelvic bones kind of protruding so I give him about a half teaspoon every time he turns his nose up to one of his feedings. He's a picky eater. I do not give it to my female, she's a hearty eater and is very solid. The only time it has had any adverse reactions was when I first started giving it to him, he had a little diarrhea. When I talked to the vet, his only concern was possible diarrhea. I just saw an advertisement in the Foster and Smith catalog for their version of nutri-cal called vitacal. The price was $2.99. I just may be giving that one a try because the petgold is about $8.00 a tube and I have to drive more than an hour to a Petco. Dawn |
