| Faith went in for Spay Today. Question on Home Care. Faith went in for Spay today. I was super worried as she is still only 3.8 pounds. The Vet called and said all went well and she is sleeping comfortably. Thank Goodness!! My vet prefers to keep animals overnight after spay even though there is no 24 hour monitoring. I refuse to leave her unattended the evening of her surgery so I informed him that I would be bringing her home this evening. He was fine with that. Does anyone have any tips on how I can make her evening of recovery as comfy as possible? Is there a special way I need to hold her when taking her potty to minimize discomfort? I just want to make sure she has as little discomfort as possible. Thanks!!! |

| I'm am sending get well wishes for your little baby. Just don't pick her up under her arms that will stretch the belly area. Kind of do the butt scoop with one hand and under her chest. My girls didn't stay overnight and they did just fine. It's kind of hard to keep them from jumping. I blocked off the couch so they couldn't jump up there. I also put a baby gate by the stairs. She will be groggy tonight and just want to sleep. She probably won't want to eat either. I just offered small amounts of water and a bit of food. She will be her same old self by morning. Good luck and give her a great big hug from Coco Pebbles Trixie and Wally

| Faith is home now sleeping in her comfy bed covered with 2 blankies. She woke up a little bit ago and just stared at me. I offered her a little water but she did not want anything. I thought perhaps she might need to pee. I scooped her up by butt and picked her up carefully and she yipped and cried. I felt terrible. Took her to the potty area but she stood there looking miserable without moving and did not pee. Guess I'll check her bed periodically to make sure she hasn't had an accident. Thanks for the well wishes!! |

| Hopefully when she wakes up in the morning she will feel better. If she goes too long..just put some water on your finger and rub her lips. she will lick them and maybe realize she could use a lil drink! Hope she is felling better soon |

| She will probably feel a bit better in the morning. Did the vet send you home with any pain meds? Picking her up by scooping her under the butt is good, but you also want to put your other hand under her arms (kind of with arms half folded), but not on her chest if that makes sense? This is a great time to baby her , she will love it and so will you. If she still is not drinking you can try a little syringe with water and just squirt it in the side of her mouth, I had to do that for a few days with one of mine as she would not drink at all. They all react differently, but in general, once they are feeling better, you usually have a harder time keeping them from jumping or running around too much. Sending gentle little hugs for your baby girl!
