| Iams Dog Food Does anyone have experience feeding Iams Probiotics for Small & Toy Breeds 1+ years? Is it a good food for my Yorkie? |

| Personally, I wouldn't feed it. IAMS has tons of fillers, by-products, soy, corn, wheat, etc. I'm sure some dogs do totally fine on it but it's not something I would ever recommend or feed. My fave kibbles are Acana, Nature's Variety, Go!, Wellness, Natural Balance, etc. Check out Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble

I feed Elliott Iams Smart Puppy for Toy Breeds, and he does just fine on it. My girlfriend also feeds Iams to her Yorkie and he loves it as well. Elliott is somewhat of a picky eater, but he really took to the Iams. | |

There are much better foods (many at reasonable prices) out there. Many of the high quality foods are sold at smaller, independent pet stores but PetCo now carries a number of decent foods including Wellness, HALO, and Solid Gold.

| Is there a particular reason you're reading it? It's very low in nutrition and has many unhealthy fillers and byproducts. There are many many many healthier foods to consider, and you can search this forum for the link with the healthy food list. A very high quality food that they sell at PetCo is Wellness. We have fed that in the past, and currently feed Acana and are very happy with it. |

| Aside from the very poor quality of the food, this company has a horrible history of animal testing and cruelty. I would never spend money to support a company like this.

| I fed my poodle Iams all his life and so then also fed it to Chloe after we got her. My reasoning was that it was inexpensive, easily accessible (I could get it at Walmart and Dollar General) and that all dog foods were basically the same. After reading up about different brands, I realized that I could get Wellness Core, a much better food, at PetCo for the almost the exact same price I paid for Iams. I switched Chloe over to it a little over a month ago and she loves it! I also don't have to feed her as much of the Wellness as I did the Iams since it has the higher protein and is a better quality. -C

| I wouldn't feed it. It is very poor quality food and I don't know very many dogs who do well on it. Try this site and go for the 5 & 6 Star Dog Foods: Dog Food Reviews - Main Index - Powered by ReviewPost |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I would never feed anything IAMS. They have had so many recalls it is pathetic. Most recent in cat food, but anyone who has been recalled is RED FLAGGED for me. Not good at all! I feed Lifes Abundance and it is shipped to my door! TrilogyOnline Product List) |

| Thanks everyone. I had no idea Iams was such a bad dog food. I was feeding it because I could get it at Walmart and I thought since Iams was a name brand and cost a little more it was a good dog food, but I was wrong. I went to the dog food analysis website, and it was only rated a 1 out of 6, with 6 being the best. I am going to Petco today to get a better dog food for my Yorkie - some of the recommended brands such as Wellco, etc. Thanks again for everyone's help. |

| Sorry I meant Wellness Core, not Wellco. Had Petco on my mind. |

| Good choice. Wellness is a good food. I hope your little one enjoys her new diet.

| I ended up getting Solid Gold Wee Bit dog food for all stages of life. The main ingredient is buffalo and the dogs love it. Hope this was a good choice. |

| Yes, it's a much better food than Iams. Glad they like it!
